MSNBC 2010 Election Coverage Lacks Any Pretense of Neutrality
US News and World Report ^ | November 2, 2010 | Robert Schlesinger, Opinion Editor

Part of the fun—well, torture really—of election night is flipping between the three “news” channels, mostly to avoid their most irritating commentators (hello Messrs. O’Reilly and Schultz) or channel-hopping pols (our inability to escape Michael Steele literally made my wife scream). But one thing I find really striking is how the three cable networks are approaching their coverage—most particularly that MSNBC has given up any pretense of being a straight news channel.

Here’s how it breaks out:

•CNN is anchored by Wolf Blitzer who occasionally throws it over to Anderson Cooper and CNN’s cast of roughly 435 pundits from across the opinion spectrum. Blitzer is a patented, non-partisan anchor (or as they say more accurately in Great Britain, news presenter) and this is a rather traditional, dare I say sensible, setup. •Fox News Channel takes a similar tack, with Brett Baier and Megyn Kelly, two of the channel’s anchors, leading the coverage and then throwing it over to in-house conservative commentators like Bill O’Reilly and Sarah Palin. Even assuming that Baer and Kelly tend to ape the channel’s general ideological tilt, Fox is at least making a pretense of maintaining the traditional separation between news and commentary. •Then there’s MSNBC, which is being anchored, more or less, by liberal yakker Keith Olbermann, flanked by fellow progressive commentators Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Eugene Robinson, and Chris Matthews. Occasionally they bring in the hyper-aggressively liberal bloviator Ed Schultz, setting up the image of the left quizzing the far left. Part of the reasoning no doubt is that NBC is using straight news anchors to present its coverage: Brian Williams, Tom Brokaw, Savannah Guthrie...

MSNBC is just a MESS. I wager that huge changes are in the future for MSNBC. They are so in the tank for Obama that they have lost all pretense of non-bias coverage.

the MSNBC coverage is comedic gold! Bathtub Boy cracking fat jokes about Haley Barbour and blaming Feingold’s defeat on the 750k spent by the C.O.C., he is on some serious drugs.

Just remember, MSNBC IS the only ‘news’ channel that doesn’t have “News” as part of its name. Why? So they can’t be sued for false advertising?

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/11/02/bachmann_to_msnbcs_matthews_that_thrill_isnt_tingly_anymore.html

Watching those utter fools trying to deny that they’re in the tank for Obama—after Chrissy treated Bachman as he’s never treated a Democrat, and he’s going on about how inspiring Obama has been—is truly entertaining. Chrissy and Olberman blabbing on with their bloated platitudes and Chrissy saying “They’re making fun of me” for being thrilled by America.

I’ts just really funny listening him going on about McCarthyism. He acts like politicians don’t simply brush aside questions and give their own answers ALL THE TIME.

I was waiting for him to start screaming when the pee running down his leg hit the electrical cables in the studio.

Answering the question, "Can we come up with an even more estrogen-challenged version of The View?"

I’m gonna hire these MSNBC clowns for my kid’s next birthday party. It doesn’t get any more hilarious than this. And I think I’ll try to get Al Franken as the headliner.

Man, I couldn’t imagine watching that lineup tonight. I just saw a little clip of them, while Chrissy was whining about Bachman (who’s pretty easy on the eyes). He looked so wasted, and the others are laughing in the background, so very professional, and then they all proceed to WHINING about how they’re being accused of shilling for Obama.

Man, I couldn’t imagine a better reason to outlaw the existence of the television set. What a borefest!

The lovely and beautiful Rachel Maddow (barf) actually stated at one point how it was so inappropriate that everyone was saying they were all in the tank for Obama. She continued to state that was just so far from the truth.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
See I told you this was better than a night at the Comedy Zone.

The only bright spot in Olberdorks night was when he admitted they were all hoping and looking forward to the Republicans infighting because of all the new Tea Party blood.
