Make mo mistake, the Sane Congressional Democrat Caucus (SCDC) knew it would come to this as far back as December 2008 even before all the trash from Obamas election parties was cleaned up.
Maryland Democrat Congressman Chris Van Hollen, the de facto chairman of the SCDC, said his Party could lose as many as 70 to 80 seats in this cycle on the same day Barack Obama would bask in the glow of happy Democrat faces oblivious to the coming disaster.
The SCDC knew Obamas support was a mile wide and an inch deep even when the polls were reporting Obama holding a 70% approval rating and the GOP trailing by 25 points on the economy and 34 points on health care.
Van Hollen and his staff knew 2010 would find Democrats defending 54 seats that they took during the last two cycles, 48 seats where the hapless John McCain actually won and a massive 83 districts held by them that voted for George Bush in 2004.

My reply to him was a warning that unfortunately (for him!) schadenfreude’s loyalty can never be bought. It is like an Afghan, just when you think he’s your friend for life, he’ll turn and stab you in the back!
There.
Fixed it for you. Significant distinction.
