After a five-year hiatus, the Bakersfield Business Conference is back, this time featuring a lineup of Republican heavyweights that includes Sarah Palin, former Vice President Dick Cheney and Karl Rove.
As in past years -- when it was held annually -- the conference will feel more political than business. In fact, three potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates are on the bill: Palin, the former Alaska governor, as well as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
"With very little advertising beyond our local community and past attendees, we've received a phenomenal response to our speaker lineup," said event spokesman Brandon Martin. He added that the event is a "mix of sincere patriotism, platform wisdom, and feel-good entertainment."
It also has a strong Republican feel, though Martin said that isn't intentional. "We don't see it as a Republican event," he said. "It's just the way it broke down this year."
He said Donna Brazile, a Democratic consultant and political pundit who managed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign, is coming, as is political consultant Bob Beckel, who ran Walter Mondale's unsuccessful 1984 presidential bid against Ronald Reagan.
"We selected these people because they are great speakers," Martin said. Neither, however, is on the main stage, which is reserved for the heavyweights such as Palin, who was the event's main draw. Martin said as of late, however, the appearance of the outspoken Cheney also has drawn a lot of interest.
Beckel in the same room with Sarah Palin..I hope he’s gonna wear dark pants..because he is gonna crap them the second he sees her. He is such a schmuck, I bet he will run off and hide under Brazille’s dress the moment he sees her
yep...can hear myth now saying “its all about me” LOL
Noticed the huckster isnt on the list.
It sounds like Governors Palin, Romney, VP Cheney and Karl Rove will be on the VIP stage and Beckel, Brazile and the other D Listers will be on another.
Rove should be excluded from this...
That inconsequential little half-term guv and failed veep candidate beats out a former Speaker of the House and two-term VP, too. Imagine that!
Perhaps Sarah will school Beckel. That could be tons of fun.
I realized I am emphatically pro Sarah in 2012. I can’t think of anyone better.
Beckel is unwatchable.
Note to Hannity: I turn off your show every time you have that schmuck on. There are plenty of Libs out there, put this guy to pasture.
No wonder I hadn't heard of it. I'd hate to have to outshine Sarah Palin right now.
Glad to hear that Cheney is back in the groove. Ive been praying for him.
Does this mean Dick Cheney is improving in health? I hope so.
When is it? It doesn’t say..
It’s tomorrow:

Date, time, location?
Sarah Palin is the event's main draw, but the article doesn't list her first..........
Um, okay.....
To be fair, Vice President Cheney is the highest ranking person in the lineup, although why Rove is before Gov. Palin is beyond me.
The GOP, by accepting him, endorses backstabbing
and RomneyCARE and the rest of Romney's "contributions".
