Another Letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu

Mr. Prime Minister;

Many Jews both from Israel and in the Diaspora have reacted with horror and revulsion to the latest Time Magazine Cover Story, “Why Jews Don’t Care About Peace.” Time’s base use of the Shylock blood libel is beyond false, it is disgusting. But perhaps there is a lesson beyond the obvious hatred against Jews in general, Israel specially, and you, Mr. Prime Minister, can take from this journalistic episode. Time has unwittingly pulled back the veil and shown exactly how the world media will, for the most part, depict the breakup of the current peace talks should President Abbas walk out as he has threatened, should Israel keep its word and end the building freeze. I hope and pray that the plan is to end this horrid restriction on the many patriotic and Zionist Jews living in Judea and Samaria. There is no reason for Israel to give in to the Palestinian leadership’s ploy of wasting over eight out of the ten months of the freeze and entering talks solely to, with President Obama’s backing (he is no friend to Israel), extend the freeze and pull down your coalition, and that is the aim of both the Palestinians and the Obama Administration.

My idea is for a path Israel should pursue should the Palestinians walk off in a snit, which will be followed by near universal condemnation of Israel for not accommodating the Palestinian reasonable demand to extend the freeze. We both know this is the case and the world media, whether liberal bent or state controlled medias, will take the position that the freeze was such a reasonable and minimal demand, after all, it was only affecting the “settlers” who are simply just too Jewish. Should Abbas and the PA walk away from the table, this time Israel should make a couple of reasonable demands before allowing them to return to the talks. It is way past time that the other side paid for their lack of honest intent and intransigence. First, Israel should demand of the PA to recognize that the area inside whatever borders are negotiated for Israel is a Jewish State as was the intent the entirety of time since the Balfour Declaration. And finally, Israel should insist that the Temple Mount be opened to equal access for all faiths and all faiths will have equal rights to hold gatherings and to pray openly and freely on these hallowed grounds. It is way past time that Israel force a few issues as requirements to show true intent and to guarantee that Israel actually realize some benefit beyond increased terror attacks in return for being a party to what have been one sided concessions for peace. And should the world media get their full measure of pique and grievance, so be it. Has it ever been any other way?

The first Prime Minister to make peace dealt from a position of strength tempered by reason. Aiding his accomplishment, Prime Minister Menachem Begin did have an honest partner in Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Part of the reason was that Sadat saw a man of integrity who stated his mind honestly and fairly from a position of strength and certainty. I see the potential for you to be much the same should you so choose. We both know that the only winner in the Middle East is the one seen as being the stronger horse. You need to be the person of strength and dare to challenge the status quo if anything is going to result from any talks with the PA. A little fear in your adversary goes a long way.

This is not a concession that the PA is in a position to make. The restriction against JEWS praying on the Temple Mount is an ISRAELI restriction.

The crime of the past century was that the idolatrous temple to the moon god was not dynamited on June 7, 1967, when the IDF took control of the Temple Mount. Blowing up all synagogues was the first thing Jordan did in in 1948. It is not for taking what is rightfully Jewish that Moslems hate Jews. It is for the simple reason that they are Jews. Commensurate with that fact, Jews should stand up proudly and BE Jews.

Hopefully he will read this and take heart....he needs to be strong and unwavering. Can he do it? I guess we’ll find out. If he shuts out the clamoring voices from DC, perhaps he’ll lead the way and think about Israel first and DC last!!!!
