The design is a semi-circle, not a crescent but learning of the mention of the hijackers just got me going back to the NPS to lodge my compaint.

I went through this crescent thing last week and linked to other memmorials that use the broken circle theme of a semi-circle. Compare the Muslim crescent I showed in a post up from this one.

Any mention of the hijackers ought to be one that everyone has to walk on at the entrance to the park.

I don't care if you call it a semi circle or a crescent. To me that seems to be semantics, but is it a mihrab?

"A mihrab is usually a niche set into the middle of the qibla wall of a building in order to indicate the direction of Mecca."

If you search for mihrab photos you will see that they are a crescent...or simicircular in shape.

Does it point to mecca or not? If so...why?
