After defeating their rivals in Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, Muslim extremists are focusing their attacks on Christians in Gaza City. Christians in Gaza City have issued an appeal to the international community and a plea for protection against the increased attacks by Muslim extremists.

Father Manuel Musallem, head of Gaza's Latin church, told the AP that Muslims have ransacked, burned and looted a school and convent that are part of the Gaza Strip's small Romany Catholic community. He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned.

Gunmen used the roof of the school during the fighting, and the convent was "desecrated," Mussalem told the AP.

"Nothing happens by mistake these days," he said.

I’ve stopped referring to the Muslim religion, and now call it the Muslim Network. If someone has a better more accurate description for everyday use, I would like to hear it. Keep it professional, because this is something I intend to use in public.

Has Obama begged them to stop yet? How about the Sec of State? No? Are any peace activists headed over there to stop it? WTH?

I’m not opposed to it. They certainly exhibit most of the characteristics of a cult.

Well, that’s what I thought until I looked up the word cult. I wanted to see the definition, and thought Islam would match up on a number of points.

What I found was that you could pretty well place all religions in this group. All but one definition would apply to all religions.

I can’t help but wonder if the definition of cult hasn’t been re-crafted in recent times to make it possible for the anti-religion groups to trash all religions.

Why not just call it a cult?

No problem. I was surprised to see ‘cult’ pretty much applies to any religion though, with only a couple of sticking points.

Check out that link I provided. Something is up with that...

I think that goes back to the original meaning of cult. Back in the pagan days it wasn’t a perjorative, it just meant worship devoted to one specific deity out of the pantheon, like the “Cult of Apollo”, etc.

Good point. You would think that the slang term had been around long enough that they could more clearly define that aspect of it though.
