As Anna C. Little and her volunteers canvass Middlesex Borough this morning, Little has taken a calculated risk by issuing a statement decrying the planned Cordoba House mosque and community center, to be (tentatively) located two blocks down from the destroyed World Trade Center.
In a press release published at 2:16 p.m. (August 20), Little stated forthrightly that the building of any mosque that close to "Ground Zero" would be inappropriate, regardless of whether such a building would be legal or illegal. She further raised the question of the funding of the mosque, a question that the would-be worship leader at the planned mosque has consistently refused to answer.
"As Mayor of Highlands and the Republican nominee for Congress in the 6th District, where we suffered the loss of hundreds of our family and friends because of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, my position is that the building of a mosque so close to ground zero where thousands of Americans lost their lives, is entirely inappropriate," said Little. In so saying, Little raised what might be the most salient legal point: Ground Zero is effectively a cemetery. Ample precedent exists for treating the site of a mass casualty event, or a mass execution, as a cemetery. (For example, the curators of the popular Alamo historic site in San Antonio long ago erected a gravestone-like monument to the men who fell there on the exact spot where General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana's troops threw the bodies of the dead defenders onto a common pile and burned them.)
Regarding the funding of the mosque, Little said this: "With so many fanatical groups across the globe supporting extreme anti-American views which often lead to violence, this question should be among the first answered before any ground is broken."
Little publishes her press releases on this blog. Less than half an hour after she published this press release, another blogger published this comment, heavily laden with links back to his blog, describing the infamous Beslan Incident in September of 2004. Chechen rebels and allied militants stormed a school in Beslan and committed what any observer can only describe as an incredible series of atrocities, all the while calling attention not only to their drive for independence but also to their religious imperative--the exact same imperative that the nineteen perpetrators of the September 11 Attacks referred to in notes that they left behind.
Little has previously taken "hawkish" positions on relations with the State of Israel and on national defense. With regard to that last, and specifically with reference to international terrorism, Little says this on her campaign site: "An act of terrorism against the United States, or its citizens, is an act of war. Terrorists are enemy combatants and should be tried in military tribunals. I support common sense profiling, and other human intelligence, being utilized more broadly in eliminating our enemies."
This woman is the Real Deal, and will give Representative Pallone (D NJ-6) a run for his money in Central New Jersey
A “Little” background...
Anna C. Little is the Mayor of Highlands, and is running against 11-term Democrat Congressman Frank Pallone in New Jersey’s Sixth Congressional District, which includes Monmouth County and portions of Middlesex County, in Central New Jersey.
Anna is “Tea Party Approved”, and good on the issues of taxes, growth of government, 2A and life.
Pallone, on the other hand, is one of the principle architects of Obamacare.
She has a lot of tea party support. There is a walk this weekend to support her. Pallone is going to be history.
fwiw, noticed recently on the news, that the mosque is now being referred to as “Cordoba House”, or a muslim community center. no mention of mosque . liberals and truth, never can mix one with the other.
She sounds good!
She is a candidate that you would support no matter who she was running against. It is refreshing to have politicians in New Jersey who you don’t have to settle for as the best you can do.
When you think about it, "Cordoba House" is about as outrageous a name as you could pick for this thing. The developer has been calling it since the git-go. It is only later that it has been described as a multi-cultural YMCA kind of thing.
Nice. She sounds like a good lady.
I certainly support her against Pallone, but her position on the mosque coincides with that of 70% of Americans so it should be a winner. I suspect that Pallone will be forced to adopt something similar.
“Pallone, on the other hand, is one of the principle architects of Obamacare.”
He is also a member of the American Socialist Party.
Wow.... He represents my district and I didn't know that.
Yeah, she "risks" losing the dingbat journalist vote, the self-flaggelating liberal vote and the violent muslim vote, which I doubt she was counting on anyway.
Public (non-journalist) opinion is overwhelmingly on the correct side of this issue, so there is very little risk in announcing that you share that opinion.
I thought they even quit calling it Cordoba House and changed it to Area 51 or some such of a thing. (yes, I know it’s not really called “Area” 51 but, it’s something 51 and Area 51 fits because this is such an alien way to think!)
Ms. Little needs to get Frank Pallone to take a written and verbal stand on the Ground Zero Mosque fray!!! As a matter of fact, every Republican/Conservative should force their congressional opponent to declare in public, for the record, where they stand on this issue. Meanwhile, my dear Ms. Little, good luck and Godspeed. Every person in this country that loves America should come out and vote on November 2, 2010 and destroy the current anti-American, Democrat Party and with its destruction, take down America hating POTUS Barack Hussein Obama. “REMEMBER NOVEMBER!!!”
Good for her. We need to be governed more by common sense, and less by empty rhetoric.
I was mistaken, he is NOT a member of the American Socialist Party, Donald Payne is.
He is still a socialist.
