Second Amendment advocate and author John Lott was on Coast to Coast last night to discuss the Supreme Court's 5-4 decision recognizing the individual right of citizens to own guns but he stressed that a change in the balance of power on the court could change all that. Accordingly, he stressed the need for an informed electorate at the ballot box to ensure that only Presidents and Senators are elected who will appoint and confirm pro-Second Amendment judicial nominees. He mocked President Obama's professed commitment during his campaign to support gun rights but who then in office appointed Sotomayor to the bench who was among the four dissenting Justices unwilling to find an individual right under the Second Amendment.

Didn’t they endorse Harry Reid?
John...Dude! “Coast To Coast”?!?
What were you thinking?
Yes, they did. Along with John McCain and the DISCLOSE legislation.
Got a beg call from the NRA last weekend. Something about a UN gun grab. I cut her short and said in essence that when the NRA starts acting on principle and taking a long term, actions-have-consequences view, then we’ll talk. Until then, not another dime to you. The resposne was, “well, we ARE a one-issue organization...” I said, yes, and a short-sighted one, too. As long as the NRA supports those whose ultimate aim is to reduce us to serfdom and slavery, the sops they throw to the NRA mean nothing. I added, as for the UN, let them ban all they like. Then let’s see them enforce it. That’s when I’ll go to war...
Then I said goodbye and good luck.
Can they be that stupid that they think that Harry Reid is on their side? Whatever he says on gun control is just for public consumption until they have enough votes to take all our guns. Anyone with a brain knows that.
Yes, I do believe the NRA is that blind. But that’s no more blind than those who think they can just vote our fundamental rights away.
I heard John on Coast to Coast. John, you did a very good job. Our problem has always been the leftist media that kept the public misinformed. You informed millions of people, including a significant number of peace officers.
Good job. Thank you.
