Most So-Called Conservatives Are Dead Wrong

As author Kohlmayer says in the following article, regaining power in order to fix the government will fix nothing. We are in need of a wholesale slashing of government agencies.

People sometimes look at me as though I’m crazy, but I’ll say again some things I’ve been saying for years: to improve education and reduce its cost, get rid of the federal Department of Education; to have cheaper and more plentiful domestically produced energy, get rid of the federal Department of Energy; to reduce skyrocketing medical costs, get rid of the federal Department of Heath and Human Services, etc.

All we mostly get from these huge and costly federal agencies is red tape and senseless regulations – and a federal budget that puts all of us deep into unsustainable debt.

Did the Dept of Energy prevent the oil spill? No. Is it dealing with the spill? No. Has it reduced dependence on foreign oil? No. Has it developed renewable energy sources competitive with fossil fuels? No.

The main product of Health and Human Services has been the massive paperwork act called HIPPA, which is supposed to give health consumers more rights. All it has really done is to double the overhead costs of every medical facility – costs that have been passed on to all of us.

You could change the names of the agencies and the duties they're supposed to perform and the answers would still be the same.

Yep, It is TIME to Drain the Swamp! It is TIME to DownSize DC!

Eliminate entire departments (Education, EPA, etc.)

Move any worthwhile functions back to the State level where it can be more efficiently and more logically administered.

Time to force Congress & Senate to telecommute most of the year, from back in their home districts under the thumbs of the electorate. And away from the lobbyists.

Can you imagine the reduction in operating expenses by moving the staff away from DC.

Just think about it.

From a previous thread today... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2538359/posts?page=1

If the USA was REALLY serious about
stabilizing the cost of health care,
they would do what no one wants to do...

They would KILL the entire 3rd party payment system
Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, ALL of them
Severely reduce the regulatory burden on
Hospitals, Nurses, Doctors, Get rid of the Lawyers
The aggregate cost of care would drop by half

We have developed such dysfunctional relationships
in the system, that it is severely warped and damaged,
close to folding like the house of cards that it is...

The dependencies are so severe that
With the removal of the Social Contracts
an integer multiple of 10,000,000 people
would die within 5 years
My death, and I suspect many of yours, is quit likely

Worse than that is going to occur if
the dependencies are not cut sooner,
I suspect 1/3 of the population will die
with the ensuing societal collapse.

Romania, Greece, etc. are just the
warm up before the big event

Any effort to step away from the free market system
Note, I do not say Capitalism,
will inevitably make the damage worse

The Western Economies will be in full reverse by about 2015
The Gold Bugs will find that they cannot eat metal
Money is better spent on Arable land,
learning farming, small animal husbandry, and weaponry

IMHO...
The Devastation is an Arithmetic Certainty
The Best that can be done is to Minimize the Deaths
and Preserve some Structure of Society for
the sake of the Future Children

Totally agree. The Base Closing Commission is a great example of a federal entity gone wrong. They formed it to cut waste from the gov’t by closing bases that weren’t necessary. They cut alright, and since these things take on a life of their own, they’re still cutting, closing bases we relied on to train our reserves or to defend that area.

And savings? They gave all the land to the local yokels to calm them down. Yet you can’t kill this or any other federal force once it’s born.

“Move any worthwhile functions back to the State level where it can be more efficiently and more logically administered.”

Unless you remove the ability of politicians to buy and sell favors, even at the State level, the corruption continues.

Yet you can’t kill this or any other federal force once it’s born.

The only way for the nation to recover and survive is to reshackle the Federal government within the Constitution. The founders understood that was the only way it would work and contrary to accepted modern thought, some things do not change.

Federal agencies CAN and MUST be brought back under control, there are NO options.

Absolutely. We need to get rid of at least a half dozen agencies and dozens of other sub-agencies. Then we need to fire about 1/2 of the people left in the rest.

Ohmigosh yes. I read the other day that the dept. of ed has 4800 employees but a budget in the billions. How is that even possible? What the heck are they spending that money on?

I’m not in favor of throwing people out of work, but to save billions but letting go under 5000 people, I say, let’s do it!

Maybe they can start charter schools, or sweep floors.

I’m way past the point of even caring.

STOP SPENDING MY MONEY ON CRAP!
