NRA Endorses John McCain

U.S. Senator John McCain’s re-election campaign today announced that the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has endorsed Senator McCain for re-election to the United States Senate.

“John McCain has steadfastly voted against every gun and ammunition ban in Congress,” said Chris W. Cox, Chairman of NRA-PVF, in a statement released Thursday. "This along with his commitment to preserving our hunting heritage has earned him the NRA-PVF’s endorsement. We ask all Arizona gun-owners, hunters and NRA members to vote for John McCain in the U.S. Senate Republican primary on August 24th.”

“The National Rifle Association has boldly protected Americans’ Constitutionally guaranteed Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms for more than 125 years, and I am humbled and honored by their endorsement,” said McCain. “For more than two decades, I've fought efforts to ban guns and ammunition, and stood in defense of our Second Amendment -- I look forward to continuing to work closely with the NRA in the battles ahead.

This coming after the NRA got real cozy with Harry Reid in Nevada. I don’t like what the NRA has done lately one bit.

Amen, bro.

I told the NRA to pound sand when they endorsed Arlen Sphincter over Pat Toomey.

Hats off to John McCain effort to close gun-show loophole

By HELEN THOMAS
HEARST NEWSPAPERS

WASHINGTON -- Gun-control advocates have a powerful new voice in the Senate who is seeking to close a loophole that allows weapons to be sold at gun shows without background checks.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who cited cases in which suspected terrorists were caught with weapons bought at U.S. gun shows, says he will try to "force Senate consideration" early next year of the measure. Former President Clinton tried but failed to curb such sales. Hats off to the senator if he succeeds.

A spokesman said McCain hopes to attach an amendment to appropriate legislation, possibly a homeland security bill, in January. The amendment would require background checks taking up to three days for would-be buyers from private, unlicensed dealers at gun shows. After three years following enactment of the law, most checks on such purchasers would have to be completed in 24 hours.

then check out the muslim terrorist front group, CAIR, employing DC lobbyist grover norquist as one of their heavy hitters......the SAME grover norquist who sat on the NRA’s board for YEARS, (AND the NRA knew all along of his anti American dealings with CAIR), helping set agendas etc. nice huh? the once great NRA...reduced to allowing a CAIR muslim terrorist front man into their ranks. STILL, flat hard to believe to this old boy.

What I wrote to MY NRA as a lifetime benefactor member (time to rejoin Gun Owners of America):

I am writing to express deep OUTRAGE that you have endorsed RINO John mcCain in the Arizona Senate race. Have you forgotten that he tried to trample OUR 1st amendment rights by partnering with the far left to come up with the ill-concieved, un-Constitutional, un-American MCCAIN-FEINGOLD law?! As a long-time member and supporter I demand that you withdraw support for this political opportunist who talks a tough Conservative game NOW - when he's being challenged in a serious way, but whose record shows a MUCH different story of a "MAVERICK" (read that as someone who isn't quite right in the head, much less right when it comes to the right and wrong the Founders knew of) who "reached across the aisle" TOO DAMN MUCH (to the same far left nut jobs who now threaten our country with unbridled Socialism and centralized, big government control) in his legislative career. Glenn Beck has described McCain, correctly, as a big government PROGRESSIVE. He is DECIDEDLY NOT the type of man we need in congress to protect our rights at all costs. Again, I demand that you immediately withdraw support for Mccain, and throw OUR support to the ONLY Conservative in the race - J.D. Hayworth.

Just WHEN did the NRA poll it’s members about THIS?

HOW does the NRA differentiate itself from ACORN or the SEIU, when it does stuff like this?

I’m not so happy with the NRA lately either. As if McCain will be better on guns (or anything else) than Hayworth. Ditto for Harry Reid and whoever he runs against.

I was also a bit nauseated when I read in the most recent American Rifleman about how happy the NRA was about federal money being spent to support shooting ranges, etc. I’m not in favor of that. Everyone working to get their piece of the pie for their pet project and passion is partially to blame for our pork spending and debt mess. It has to end.

GREAT letter Doc. and see my post 12 also. I’m another old timer/nra member who cannot, (and for a while now), in good conscience support this outfit. at one time I would go to dukes if someone bad mouthed the nra.....no longer and never again will that happen. they are nothing more now than an org. set up to see that their big guys keep their cushy high paying jobs. they have not represented the common gun owner for years. I spend/send quite a bit of money still to other pro gun orgs. but NEVER to the nra again.
