The death of the myth of Obama's competence?
The American Thinker ^ | May 30, 2010 | Rick Moran

Posted on 05/31/2010 3:07:55 AM PDT by Scanian

During the campaign, President Obama called George Bush's response to Katrina "unconscionable incompetence."

What can our president say about his own lackadaisical response to the BP oil spill catastrophe?

As pointed out by Toby Harnden in a devastating piece in the Telegraph , Obama's only recourse is to lie:

"Even judging Obama by his words, he has fallen woefully short over what has now eclipsed the 1989 Exxon Valdez wreck as biggest oil spill catastrophe in American history. He may have described it as an 'unprecedented disaster' in last Thursday's press conference but a week into the crisis he was blithely stating that 'this incident is of national significance' and rest assured he was receiving 'frequent briefings' about it. George W Bush's unpopularity and perceived incompetence was encapsulated by the way he dealt with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Candidate Obama branded it 'unconscionable incompetence.'

Central to Obama's appeal was his promise to be truly different. His failure to achieve that is now at the core of the deep disappointment Americans feel about him..."

I do not know why there was even a myth about his competence.

I do not feel that Obama’s response to the oil spill is anywhere near as incompetent as many other of his decisions.

He looked at the problem with the same inexperience and hopes that it would go away by itself, that he looks at so many other problems.

For instance if we ignore Iran the Nuclear bombs will just go away, or N. Korea, if we ignore them they will go away.

If he ignored Tennesee the water would go away

Perhaps if he could find someone to apologise to he could make things better.

Central to Obama's appeal was his promise to be truly different.

Oh he's different alright.... As for competence, when has he ever demonstrated that?

It isn't just the "one" who is incompetent. We also have to look at everyone he's appointed/selected for his administration. As a group they had only one goal in mind - the complete takeover of the U.S. and turning into a socialist paradise. Things like this spill and the floods were never figured into the plan.

These people are fiends of the highest order. They care not about the American people except as a form of peons to do their bidding. It's why they have attacked middle class. We are the only thing standing in their way.

Unconscious incompetence
Conscious incompetence
Conscious competence
Unconscious competence

The unconscious/incompetent model explains the different levels of understanding.

You allude to problems in Iran and North Korea. You are correct, sir. We haven’t seen anything yet.

Obama’s golf game is a window into his competence and managerial skills. It takes him five hours to play eighteen holes ... presumably with the rest of the course cleared of other players for security reasons ... and he seems to play every week, sometimes more frequently. He's got to be shanking every other shot into the water or the trees. Anyone who's ever played the game knows he's not enjoying the game but is rather torturing himself, “escaping” to the golf course to smoke a pack of Marlboros.

Yet, imcopetent a golfer as he is, he'd rather do that than attend to the serious business of being President of the United States.

Funny you should mention that, when the fact is 0bama has even less experience than Jimmy Carter did when the Buffoon from Georgia stumbled into the White House himself.

Carter at least was a one term Governor of Georgia, former Navy officer on a nuke sub, ran the family peanut business, 0bama has never even held a job at Dairy Queen, the only thing he has run all his life is his mouth.

“Who the heck though Obama was competent?”

Unfortunately, a lot of people bought into the MSM characterization of him as a genius. It didn't matter that no objective evidence supported this claim, as long as the MSM said it.
