Whether it was edited in or out after the fact is a bit tough to tell short of actually seeing people clap or not clap en masse.
Worth pointing out: I recall seeing decades ago, when Hussein (Saddam, not Obama) was in power in Iraq, there was a "spontaneous" anti-American rally, covered in salivating fashion by the MSM.
The only problem was, they forgot to use a close-in angle on the camera.
So you could see the serried ranks of protestors approach, heads down, dispirited, and then a few steps from the camera, look up, face the camera, assume raging expressions, and call out, shaking their fists, before dropping their heads again after passing the camera.
Ooops.
Very reminiscent of a time I was channel-surfing and saw WWF or somesuch; the soundtrack was of wild, raucous cheering, but what the screen showed was a bunch of people sitting bored in their seats, resting their chins on their hands, or even with their arms folded.
Or of Bill Clinton at the Ron Brown Funeral.
