Versailles on the Potomac

What is it about the Obamas that causes people peering through the glass at the White House to start seeing flashbacks to the excesses of life under the French court before the Revolution? I don’t mean casual “dates” via Air Force One to catch a Broadway show in Manhattan, inconveniencing the country’s largest city. And I certainly don’t expect the American President and his wife to have leftover meatloaf for dinner. But the image we see of the Obamas via the besotted press is one of wretched excess.

In a time when nearly a quarter of America’s population is either unemployed or underemployed, the Obamas can’t seem to help themselves.

From the Torrington, CT., Register Citizen: No Taco Bell for this in-crowd

Maybe it wasn’t quite the equal of Versailles in the heydays of French monarchial extravagance. But the White House state dinner in honor of Mexico’s president certainly impressed the courtiers of the media. And why not? The gala social event did, after all, attract the top glitterati of Hollywood’s limousine liberal community.

You can’t expect the annointed ones to live like George and Laura Bush.

If we’re serious about returning our USA to its status as a Republic, it’s time to do away w/AF1, the pResidential Palace, the state Governors Mansions, etc.

These....people....are our government servants—let’s abruptly start treating them as such!

Semper Sock It To ‘Em!

It is pathetic how the lapdog media does not report their weekend parties with the $100+/lbs Kobe beef.

If a Republican or conservative did this it would be front page news 24/7.

But for the locale, this looks like the Class of '72's Junior-Senior Banquet. And will all toney DC hostesses now take pains to match their gowns to the tablecloths? (Hey...over in the far right corner...is that a Glenn Beck pinata?)

FTA:

The vittles were whipped up by guest chef Rick Bayless and included “Oregon Wagyu beef in Oaxacan black mole.”

Allen Brothers is is a prime meat purveyor out of Chicago, which used to advertise on the Rush Limbaugh Show. Go to their web site. They sell all cuts of USDA prime, the best grade of beef. Depending on the cut their USDA prime sells for an average of about $50.00/pound. Wagyu is hyper prime, selling for about $100.00/pound, depending on the cut. Serving such a totally ostentatious meal in the middle of the greatest recession since the Great Depression to a foreign "leader" who was brought over here to insult the United States, is one of the most disgraceful, anti-American things the Illegal could do. It shows total contempt for the millions of loyal Americans who have lost their retirement savings and jobs due to the Illegal's policies.

nobama = movin’-on-up presidency

He and his wife and his mother-in-law are such chit people.

But you stupid citizens need to shut up and pay your taxes. Don’t be racist in criticizing them.

I’ve been referring to Washington as “Versailles on the Potomac” for over two years on this forum. Good to see someone else catch up.
