I asked a legal immigrant from Mexico about this the other day. She is quite astute about culture & politics and loves America far more passionately than our presidenb & most of congress.

She said that the percentage now of people trying to get in just to find a better life has gotten to be very small—in our closest sanctuary cities, unemployment is at 25%.

But, Mexican legal immigrants seem to have a soft spot, many in the mistaken belief that what’s crossing the border now are people like themselves.

I wondered too, why were the people who immigrated here legally more outraged.

Legal Mexican immigrants need to be educated more as to what is coming over the border—it’s not little families anymore. There’s not enough money to be made bringing them over these days.

Very much part of the problem is that those same legal immigrants have shrugged off the problem for decades. Every single one of them has friends who are illegal, the subject is simply avoided in public.

Heck, I only started asking status about ten years ago.

It's going to be very difficult for those folks to come out against illegals in any but one-to-one conversations.
