Arizona’s “Shots Heard ‘Round the World”
Dr kateviews ^ | April 24, 2010 | drkate

Arizona fired two clear shots over the bow of the dinghy bowbama (h/t LC) during its 2010 legislative session: expanding state enforcement of its own and federal immigration laws, and requiring constitutional eligibility determinations as a condition of ballot access in 2012.

Obama is surely sweating over both of these actions, but can only show his anger at the illegal immigration action. He is caught flat-footed on the eligibility requirement in his attempt to gain a second term.

Obama is fuming. How dare Arizona pass a bill giving its law enforcement officers authority to deal with the invasion of illegal immigrants? While he vows to review its ‘consistency with federal law’ , Obama is caught once again letting the Nation’s defenses down, and this provides a perfect opportunity for the Several States and Patriots to act in self-defense.

The self-defense tool? The powers retained to the states under the Tenth Amendment.

Enforcing Immigration Laws

Arizona currently has nearly a half million illegal immigrants living within its borders, and border violence has increasingly taken its toll on Arizonans. While open-borders advocates and illegal immigration advocates claim the bill will increase racial profiling, State Senator Russell Pearce (R-Mesa) simply responds that “illegal is not a race.” The bill does contain strict guidance that does not permit racial profiling.

Senate Bill 1070, the “Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act” was signed into law on April 23, 2010. The Governor cited Arizona’s patience with the federal government in seeking its increased enforcement and indicated the State had to act.

From Governor Janet Brewer (R)

I believe Arizona, like America is governed by laws. Good laws … well-intentioned laws … laws that confer respect and that demand respect in return. In his third State of the Union address, President Theodore Roosevelt said, “No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man’s permission when we require him to obey it. Obedience to the law is demanded as a right; not asked as a favor.”

...By the way, the Governor’s predecessor, Janet Napolitano, vetoed two similar bills. Now I understand why Obama chose her as head of Homeland Security: Napolitano is pro-illegal immigration and open borders, apparently, regardless of how many terrorists slip over the border with the others. She is violating federal law by ignoring the problem.

Proof of Constitutional Eligibility as a Condition for Ballot Access

The media are panicking over Arizona’s bill to require a presidential candidate to prove his constitutional eligibility as a condition for being on the state’s ballot. Lame Cherry calls this the “Arizona Filibuster“, where one state stops the other 49 from voting on Obama.

According to this report,

Arizona’s measure would require U.S. presidential candidates to submit documents to the secretary of state proving they meet the constitutional requirements to be president. The secretary of state could then decide to keep a candidate off the Arizona ballot if he or she had reasonable cause to believe the candidate was ineligible.

...Arizona and the Articles of Freedom

Arizona’s recent actions on immigration and eligibility are excellent strategic moves for a state interested in protecting itself from invasion: both from illegal immigrants and from an illegal occupant of the White House. The State has acted using its own authority under the Tenth Amendment to exercise inherent powers reserved to it.

... Thank you, Arizona.

And of course, Al Sharpton is going there to be a race baiter.

I live in a small town in Arizona. ALL of the poll workers are close friends and neighbors. They STILL require EVERYONE to show the required forms of identification! THAT’S THE WAY IS SHOULD BE!!!!

Amazing how enforcing the law is news. Just shows how far we’ve fallen.

Go ARIZONA!!

PLEASE, everyone, go online, buy from Arizona businesses.
Many are pushing boycotting the state...even one of their Congressmen from Arizona.

One Latino group has pulled their convention from AZ. IF anyone is having meetups, vacations, etc...PLEASE consider Arizona.

She's also a complete buffoon and embarrassment. So naturally she fits right in with Zero's staff. She claimed the system worked after the latest shoe bomber was successful in boarding a plane. Now she claims the border is more secure than ever. Tell that to Robert Krantz.

Even one state can make a difference, from related link

...The experts will try to state that the Arizona clause can not override a majority vote by 49 other states, but they are Obama enablers, as that is exactly what the Constitution has always stated.

--A President must be accepted by all 50 states according to legal Constitutional requirements. Any subject failing to provide native born status can legally be rejected by any one state, and that one state in it's minority rights will negate the other 49 states in the check and balance the Founders left silently in the Constitution to protect America from threats domestic and foreign.

--This is the eye of the Obama storm and this is the Arizona filibuster of Barack Hussein Obama. The Founders knew exactly what they were doing and the Obamite apologists are about to learn that their progressive breathing document just exhaled something hidden in it they never dreamed in all their fools wisdom.

It remains to be seen if Arizona’s shot for justice will be heard around the world or will just fizzle. All I hope for, right now, is that it will inspire other states to do the same and that its sound will not be ignored.

“—A President must be accepted by all 50 states according to legal Constitutional requirements.”

Not sure where you get that. I believe Arizona’s requirement would prevent electors from Arizona from voting for Obama in the electoral college. So he couldn’t get Arizona’s vote.

Of course, the publicity would be huge and would affect the vote in other states. But if our dear leader can get elected without Arizona’s electoral votes, I don’t think there is any constitutional requirement for “consent” of all 50 states.

The Arizona law won’t prevent other states from allowing him on the ballot but it will force him to produce the actual birth certificate. That is if he wants to be on the Arizona ballot he will produce it. If he doesn’t what is he trying to hide?

I personally believe he was born in Hawaii, but there is some other fact they are hiding. What could it be?

It would have been great if the AZ guv had been able to sign that anti-illegal immigration law on the 19th of April. Then the title would be even more fitting!

The whole “myth” of Barack Obama. Barack Sr. isn’t his daddy. He’s lied about it his entire adult life. IMHO, that’s what he’s hiding.

I was sure Texas was going to be the state to do this first. Who ever would have guessed that it would come from the land of Juan McCain? (and even sweeter, when he’s up for re-election hehehe)

Arizona is quickly becoming my favorite state. So much so that I am planning to include Arizona in our vacation travels this year.

Now if they want me to be even more impressed, they need to dump McCain.
