The British Obama?
The American Thinker ^ | April 20, 2010 | Adam Shaw

It seems that Britain is about to make the same mistake America made in 2008.

Last week here in England, we had the first of three "leaders debates" between the leaders of the three main political parties in the run-up to the May 6th General Election, and a new sensation is making waves.

The background to the debates is one of cynicism and boredom from the public, thanks to a failed Labour government and the lack of a substantial alternative. The current Prime Minister Gordon Brown is highly unpopular, and the 2010 General Election should be an easy win for the Conservative Party led by David Cameron.

Unfortunately, as Peter Glover explains in a recent article in the American Thinker, Cameron has jettisoned all semblance of conservatism in favour of the cosy centre-left consensus, and, along with a sickly sweet media campaign guided by Obama's Anita Dunn (complete with references to "hope" and "change"), it has been a disaster.

Cameron has jettisoned all semblance of conservatism... - very true - Cameron wants to be a celebrity and bows to that agenda. Sad days for the UK - the only hope is that the conservatives win and immediately jettison Cameron.(not a likely scenario).

Gordon Brown has been a disaster - the Conservatives only needed to show some true conservative spirit and they would have romped in.

Almost seems like they are throwing the fight or are just too stupid to realise that they had it won!

At least the Conservative Party does have some right-thinking people in it who could potentially take charge or influence policy. This would not be possible under a Labour Government, where every member differs only in their shades and flavour of wrong....

The conservatives have not run a very good campaign so far. There is talk of disention on strategy at the top.

They seem quite wimpy - I think the British are a bit too cynical to fall for the hope/change crap!

FAR too cynical. It’s one of the minor advantages of postmodernism.
