Bob Schieffer Predicts Newt Gingrich will Run for President in 2012; Says Palin Will Not - Video

Here is video of CBS News' Bob Schieffer on "The Early Show" today, where he predicted that Newt Gingrich will run for President in 2012, and that Sarah Palin will not run. Schieffer pointed to Palin's resignation as Alaska Governor as a major reason why she will not run.

I don't know if she will run in 2012 or not, but her resignation as Governor won't keep her from doing so. Palin is young enough that she could wait 8, 12, or even 16 years to run if she decides the time is not right in 2012.

Palin’s needed now, and as reliably in the top three of possible candidates already, she ought to go for it.

I like Newt........before you write back I like him as an idea machine, not someone who should even be considered for President.

There is no one better as coming up with themes and ideas to push and agenda, but he's lost all credibility as a national candidate.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Sarah run and win the presidency.

That being said, if she decides not to run (I dunno why she wouldn’t) she’d be in great position to replace Steele at the RNC.

It was admirable the way Speaker Gingrich came out swinging yesterday about the arms deal.

Though. So did Governor Palin. :)

Want reform? 12 steps for the reform of elected officials

1 We admit that government is wholly incapable of solving any societal ill without causing or worsening another ill. That the only way to limit this is to limit the scope of government and limit its power.

2 Hold fast to the truth that only the Creator can justly exercise authority over the individual and that justice can only come from Him. Power used in other than His will is corrupt, wrong and utterly insane.

3 Believe completely that government is NOT God that only God is God and therefore no agency, organization, group, or program can take His place

4 Completely examine all functions of government and the individuals pursuing those functions. Anything that expands the cause of personal freedom is to be encouraged and anything that is a threat to personal freedom is to be abolished

5 By using state power to remove elements of fortune from one individual and using this to enslave another we (the elected) admit to have transgressed His will and have thus become repugnant

6 We acknowledge our wrongdoing in this and admit that we are powerless in ourselves to cease doing it

7 We beseech the Holy One to purge us of this and other failings of character and restore to us the honor, courage and strength we have refused for so long

8 We will use the citizenship rolls of the United States as a list of those we have harmed and will begin dismantling the political machinery we have used to do them harm

9 We pledge to make amends to those we have harmed by continually searching for elements of government that will do harm to their freedom or their fortunes and will seek to eliminate those harmful elements.

10 We will continue to examine ourselves and our work and when we find fault in either we will admit the fault and will seek to correct it.

11 We will seek guidance from God in performing our duties to America and her people. And will ask for the knowledge of and ability to carry out His will.

12 We have experienced personal reform and a spiritual rebirth as the result of the above steps and will specifically reform our government by implementing the following 12 steps in accordance with the principles affirmed above

12 steps for the reform of government

1, Abolish the corporate income tax. Ours is the highest in the world why would anyone want to invest in a business here. Abolish the personal income tax and disband the IRS. Institute a flat rate sales tax not to exceed 10% of sale price instead. Let people keep their own money and watch how much better they can put it to use than the government can

2, Abolish the federal reserve bank and put monetary policy back under the control of representatives who must face the voters (at least once in a while)

3, Restore the gold standard (Or gold and silver standard) to back our currency with hard assets that have real value

4, Get rid of the national endowment for anything. If these artists and eggheads can’t sell their produce in the free market then it doesn’t deserve to be sold.

5, English as our national language and seal our borders. If we stop making the illegals a protected minority slave class they will stop sucking the teat of the American people and either seek citizenship or fix their own hell hole of a country.

6, Taking a census requires counting the number of people in a given area; NOTHING ELSE!

7, Abolish the Department of Education. It costs billions and hasn’t educated anyone. In fact, judging by the morons I meet everyday it has actually diseducated most victims of their policies. Actually abolish any federal bureaucracy that isn’t specifically required by the constitution. It’s time to stop enabling the spendaholics.

8, Abolish Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and The community reinvestment act. Let the lenders decide who is qualified to borrow their money. The amount of risk each lender wants to take should be up to them NOT up to the government.

9, Prosecute Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd (As well as anyone else in government who has sticky fingers) to the fullest extent available. If these Crooks spent some real time behind bars maybe they wouldn’t be as willing to give in to the corruption.

10, Eliminate senseless regulations (OSHA, EPA, EEOC) on businesses so that business can grow unshackled and the invisible hand spoken of by Adam Smith can work its magic on the marketplace.

11, Public unions should be made illegal. Their work needs to be worth what the market will pay for it not what the union itself assigns to it.

12, Establish a simple rule for legislation. If freedom expands because of it it’s good and needs to be preserved. If freedom is reduced because of it it’s harmful and needs to be abolished.

It sure wasn’t because of Newt that Mitt and Pawlenty went running in the opposite direction.

If he did manage to get the nomination [snicker], he’d get less EV’s than McCain got.

Newt is nuclear and the Dems would love for him to be the nominee.

Remember the ethic investigation?

Remember the way he left his speakership?

Remember the way he left his House seat?

Remember his divorces [plural]?

Newt has more baggage than a luggage cart at Grand Central Station.

I did pick up on a telling phrase the female co-host used to make a point. She referred to the "REPUBLICAN" Tea Parties.

Take your meds, Bob. You’re embarrassing yourself with this inexperienced Undocumented Kenyan poser.

Not really.

Newt, himself, floats the trial balloon that he might run. He foats it every three or four months. He's been floating it since the 2008 election cycle. He keeps saying 'I'll run if you beg me. Please, beg me to run, please!'
