Never mind who makes up the Tea Party Movement. What I find fascinating is that 17% of the population considers themselves members of the Tea Pary Movement. That is a large number, especially considering it has been around about a year.

Now everyone knows why the commie media is going after the TEA party movement. It's huge, it's diverse and growing stronger everyday.

Why would a “registered and contributing” Republican or Democrat be in the Tea Party Movement? If they are there, it is because they’ve given up on the Republicans and Democrats. So ... OF COURSE they are Independents. And it is the Independent vote that will take the nation back in November. The Tea Party just gives them a place to “hang out” while the people who think they are in control lose that control.

According to the Democrats, they are a bunch of white racists. I guess that probably means that the Dems are “cleansing” their ranks by dumping these folks onto the Tea Party.

I'd be willing to bet that the actual Indie/Dem figure is higher (mostly Indie, though). I'm sure this poll was done from the perspective of assuming that many in the Tea Party movement are conservatives, so sampling from that group would be higher and overrepresented. The Dems trash this movement at their own peril.
To: Publius772000
wow - very interesting ... I had no idea so many Democrats, or maybe former Democrats, now identified themselves with the tea party movement

Isn’t that wonderful and just think what they have been treated for the past 2 weeks of nothing but attacks from their democratic Congress Critters calling them racist, ignorant, etc. I don’t think I could vote for anyone who called me names.

I agree, we have a group of over 3000 and many are dems and independents.

A lot of people I know who are Democrats are very angry with the direction their party has taken.
They believe in strong defense, traditionalism, free speech, strong schools and community. “The little people” type of thing. Somewhere along the way their party became progressive socialists that hate America and want to encourage every perversion while hating Christians.
I’ve tried to convince some of them that Conservatism is the place to be but frankly they want their party back. So this does not surprise me.
