There are security reasons for keeping our own industrial base and Duncan Hunter realizes that.
It doesn’t matter a hill of beans to me whether free market goods will be cheaper if we use cheap overseas labor and that entire argument.
What matters is what is ultimate. And what is ultimate is that when war comes we must be self-sufficient in every area of the economy. We must have food, shoes, tractors, tanks, planes, ships, energy....you name it. We need a security-level representation of every piece of industry in our own country.
Hunter is wise and he views everything through a sovereignty and National Security lens. That is the difference between he and other politicians.
