"Yes, I just pulled those numbers out of my *** for a point of illustration, but the fact remains, we are broke!"

So at what point do we disagree? You have not made that clear. You kill the animal or cut off it's food supply.

I want neither to kill it or starve it. I want us to recover some sense of sanity.

The left has taken the debate to constant images of 'victim' of some injustice -- Obama even yesterday pointing to some woman who has not insurance and cancer. No mention that she happens to be in one of the top 3 rated hospitals in the enter world -- the Cleveland Clinic -- and getting free care!

If we want to fight the visual 'icon thing' that plays so well, we need to do similar. Every baby born is given and invoice for the percent of debt they will be responsible for over their lifetimes for what this clown circus congress produces.

Every parent needs to understand what they are bringing a child into.

That, my FRiend, is the best summation of how we got here I've ever read! You have it spot-on. Everything about that dark period in our Party's history disturbs me on several counts, not the least of which is it was the beginning of the end for Newt. He was a relative newcomer at the time, unlike Bob Dole, and he was on the right track. But that started the derailing of the train. It saddens me when Newt gets so badly treated around here. Almost no one has the excellent grasp of what happened to him that you've outlined. The Dems have told the big lie that it was his failure to keep his pants zipped that did him in that anyone who didn't live through those times, and made it a point to pay attention to what was going on, now mouth the lie as though it's truth. Certainly he was a cad, or worse, in his divorce and remarriage, but it wasn't the reason he crashed and burned. I remember vividly how he was demonized on issue after issue from the shut down to speaking out when he was dissed by being made to leave Air Force One by the servant's entrance while Clinton and Kennedy et al went out the front way. Just like that bastard, probably literally, had the Dali Lama depart by the trash bins.

I doubt the bunch that's up there now has the balls to do what needs to be done, we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for a great summation. Brought back a lot of memories. IMHO, Bob Dole and the others who rode Newt out of town on a rail did more damage to this country than anyone other than the current White House resident.
