The Incumbent Democrat Body Count

They're dropping like flies, these Democrats. Some of natural causes (Murtha), some because of special elections (Massachusetts special election), some are being railroaded out (Gov. Paterson), some are being eaten by their own (Schumer), and some are mysteriously retiring (Bayh).

It's widely known that the wheels of justice grind slowly, but they do grind -- and in this case, the more the better. And yet, there seems to be an uncanny clustering of misfortune that suggests something more than coincidence at work. While we cannot attribute, prima fascie, the natural causes to anything known to be in the control of David Axelrod or Rahm Emanuel, it does seem that the Democrats are purging their ranks. Forgive us for adopting a skeptical demeanor with regard to whatever it is they intend to install to replace these dead democrats walking.

Murtha went as a consequence of “supernatural causes”. Satan came to claim his soul ~ and went away a winner!

The sad thing is that if they have nothing to lose then they can vote for Obama's agenda without concern for re-election. I think someone once said something like, "There is nothing more dangerous than one with nothing to lose."

Eric Massa, 1st term blue dog dem from upstate New York, has announced that he is not running for re-election based on the advice of his doctor. Evidently, he is facing another bout with cancer.

However, since he won his seat in a longtime republican district with a very slim margin two years ago, he has alienated independents by saying he didn't care how the voters in his district felt about an issue (healthcare), he would vote his own opinion. He was a big supporter of the single payer option and voted against the House bill because it was cut from the final version.
