File this under, be careful what you wish for. As expected Charlie Rangel temporarily stepped down from the Chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee this morning. His replacement Pete Stark who is just a few fries short of a happy meal. The Hill's description is a bit more gentle.
The 19-term Democrat has a penchant for making controversial remarks, and when Republicans controlled the House, Stark challenged then Rep. Scott McInnis (R-Colo.) to a fight during a Ways and Means Committee hearing
Truth is this guy is CRAZY, he has thin-skin and is constantly exploding publicly into racial epitaphs, strange allegories, or every cuss word you can imagine.

And Rangel wasn't?
This is good news, let the crazies be exposed more & more!
I think this is great! A far left atheist is perfect to campaign against!
If some “moderate”(if there is such a thing w/the dems) had gotten that job, there’d be nothing to work with. But if this guy is as crazy as he sounds, he’ll be the “picture” of the dem party, and will hopefully lead to more Republican wins in November.
So no difference then. Figures.
I remember this from KSFO San Francisco. (In case there's no link in the posted article.)
So we won't be able to tell there was a change.
So this will be an improvement from Charlie?
Exactly. This is catharsis.
Shouldn’t that really read Fortney Pete Stark is crazy?
EXCERPT
These are the men who have run Washington this past year, and they are Mr. Obamas de facto cabinet. The nearby photos show some of the most powerful, clockwise from the top right:
Ed Markey of Massachusetts, first elected in 1976, helped to ram the cap-and-tax bill through the House and has pushed relentlessly for the EPA to declare carbon a pollutant under the Clean Air Act that didnt mention carbon.
Wisconsins David Obey, elected in 1969, is the House Appropriations chairman who steered the $787 billion stimulus to focus on Medicaid expansion and other transfer payments that have done nothing for economic growth.
Henry Waxman, first elected in the Watergate class of 1974, deposed John Dingell in 2008 as too moderate to run the Energy and Commerce Committee. The Hollywood liberal is co-author of the cap-and-tax vote that will cost numerous Blue Dogs their seats.
Pete Stark, class of 1972, runs the health subcommittee on Ways and Means and has written most of the House health reform that has forced moderates to walk the plank on the public option.
George Miller, class of 1974 and chief enforcer for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has pushed to nationalize the college student loan market. Like Mr. Stark, hes from California.
Barney Frank of Massachusetts, class of 1980 and chief protector of Fannie Mae, wrote the financial reform that would make too-big-to-fail the law for the largest banks. He has also pushed the mortgage foreclosure programs that have extended the housing recession by preventing home prices from finding a bottom.
Rush just played a sound byte:
Town Hall participant to Stark: “Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining”
Stupid Stark: “I wouldn’t waste the urine to pee on your leg”
Nice!
This is a disadvantage, why?
If you have a Froot Loop “Progressive” (aka commie) in charge of a high-visibility committee, it gets easier to paint the rest of the Democrat party with red paint. How long before Pete Stark is too much even for Queen Nancy?
If we have to tolerate the sleaziness and insanity, there might as well be a cost for RATs in it.

House of Representatives

Washington D.C. 20515
Dear Mr. Stark,
I am appalled that you voted against today's House Resolution 627, Roll Number 150. This measure would have shown publicly that you condemn the abuse of the prisoners in Iraq while simultaneously commend the service of the fine men and women who are serving in Iraq that bring honor to the uniform that they wear and to the Nation that they serve. . . . .
This should be the phone message that Stark left for Mr. Dow http://www.jeffrmiller.com/stark/pete.wav or read it
I seem to recall that Stark left more than one message, maybe not.
Because the original wasn't weird enough.
