We should be thankful for yesterdays 7-hour health care summit it was helpful in that it allowed Americans to hear the fundamental differences in approaches to meeting health care challenges. On one side, commonsense conservatives laid out fiscally-sound, free market-based, patient-centered solutions; and on the lefts side we heard about the Democrats belief that growing government is the only way to meet challenges.
As the saying goes, Everyone is entitled to his opinion, but not his own facts. When these facts concern one-sixth of our economy and something as important to our personal wellbeing as health care, wed better make sure they are the real deal.
Please take a look at the compilation below from GOP.com correcting the top five falsehoods from yesterdays summit. I appreciate their research and revelations compiled here.
- Sarah Palin
TOP FIVE FALSEHOODS
If Democrats Would Start Listening To The American People, Theyd Stop Telling Falsehoods
NO ONES TALKING ABOUT RECONCILIATION? Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) Claims No One Has Talked About Reconciliation. No one has said -- I read what the President has online -- no one has talked about reconciliation but that's what you folks have talked about ever since that came out, as if it's something that has never been done before. Let it be perfectly clear: Sarah’s phrasing of the “death panels” ultimately killed Obamacare.
It was unpopular to begin with, but she drove the final stake thru it’s heart. Reaganesque.
Yes Paul Ryan was great...but Sarah Palin would have saved us a few hours and cut the spinning that was going on. I wish she were there to take on Professor Obama as well.
All I WANT IS A SMALL CUP OF COFFEE
HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY
Image, if you will, walking into Burger King and saying a cup small cup of coffee, please.
The person behind the counter replies we only sell large cups of coffee.
I say, OK. How much is a large cup of coffee.
Counter Person That will be $20.00.
$20.00. Are you insane?
CP You dont understand. A long with that large cup of coffee you get a order of fries, a fish sandwich, two double cheeseburger, two house salads (mandated by local government) and bake potato (mandated by to State Government). Its a package deal.
But all I want is a small cup of coffee.
CP You see, if all the people just wanted a small cup of coffee, we wouldnt make any money. We were not selling enough fish sandwiches and double cheeseburgers. We were selling way to many small coffees. So our CEO got together with our competing CEOs, along with our local government and change a few things. Now, you have to buy the large coffee package. Did I mention, we are not subject to anti trust laws.
Meanwhile, the person in the next isle orders 5 large coffees and is only charge $75.00.
Hay, CP. Why did that guy only pay $15.00 per the large coffee package?
CP They are a belong to a large discount group.
Let me guess, Local government?
CP Why yes. They get the best discount. Large employer. you know. Do you work for a large group?
No. Im a sole proprietor .
CP You are SOL. Its against our rules for you to join with other sole proprietor to form a group
By the way, you cant go to the next town to get your Small Cup of Coffee. Even if they sell it, they, like us, can only sell to residents in the town.
Let me guess. Part of the being exempt from anti trust laws?
CP Right, You catch on fast.
This is the State of our health insurance industry as it stands.
WHERE IS THE COMPETITION? LET ME BUY MY SMALL CUP OF COFFEE
WE DEMAND A FREE MARKLET SOLUTION TO BRING DOWN THE COST OF HEALTH INSURANCE.
LET THE COMPETITION BEGAIN
YOU said my sentiments exactly...and despite how well people like Ryan did at the summit yesterday--Palin's presence was sorely needed as well. It would have saved us a few hours as she would have cut the spin and faced Professor Obama in a more head-on way, without losing a sense of graciousness either. Would have made for some killer soundbytes too.
I was watching her VP debate from '08 with Biden and appreciated her style even more. She would have nailed that debate even more had she known more about what Obama's real intentions were. She receives a lot of criticism for how she talks, I think her tagline style of analysis is very effective in implanting the message in people's minds. "We need a Commander in Chief, not a Professor." "Perfume on a pig." "Death Panels." etc...Let's not forget Obama did not win on the details of any substantive policy. He won on the tagline "hope and change."
I guess I'm frustrated the summit took place in the first place. All this Healthcare nonsense CLOUDS the REAL debate going on in this country right now: Socialism vs. Freedom. The public would have been much better served had the debate been one on philosophy and principle and not the ins and outs of CBO numbers and healthcare premiums. The Democrats don't care about the plan at all--they just want to set the foundations for socialism and undermine our foundations any which way they can.
The left doesn’t want a free market solution. What they want is money flowing from people who go out to work every day to people who vote democrat.
The left doesnt want any free market solution at all! Follow the money....Auto Industry takeover (Ford got lucky with money raising before the crash), Banking Industry Takeover, AIG (big chunk of insurance industry takeover), and now the rest of the INSURANCE INDUSTRY takeover (Obamacare is no more healthcare than my garage would be). A cop once asked a bank robber why he robbed banks....'cause that's where the money is'! There's a whole lotta money in Insurance companies also....especially the ones that don't pay claims very fast.
Then once insurance is gov't owned, Watch for the next industry to fall...probably Utilities (lotsa money there, but a lot of debt also).
As a strong supporter of Sarah and the conservative values she projects, there's no question of her personal stake for Special Needs children.
God Bless you and your child, CP!

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:
http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html
This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
