A new poll is about to do what 7-plus hours of health care summit could not - make political news. According to Rasmussen's daily presidential tracking poll released this morning, only 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of President Barack Obama's performance; 55% disapprove. This matches the lowest level of total approval yet measured for this president.

He's doing everything in his power to lower those numbers.

I wonder if that is his actual goal: To be the most hated President in American politics, EVER?

Obama really is a poor politician, on top of being a poor Executive with horrible ideas.

If he would have come out in advance of yesterday's meeting and said, "We're going to scrap what's on the table, and start from scratch." and then go onto to latch onto 2-3 of the GOP ideas and taken his own party to task in a very public way, his approval would have gone through the roof. In the end, he would have siphoned off about a dozen Republicans, taken all the wind out of the GOP sails and still would have gotten a pretty conventionally liberal bill passed before the mid-terms.

He's an idiot with virtually no political skill, thankfully.

I love that he is damaging the Democrat Party...and is a DINO.

So, not to get ahead of the game, but... what kind of Democrat infighting needs to happen between now and then to see the Democrat elders make "the walk" to the White House?

And which elders would it be? Certainly won't be Harry or Nancy.

Liebermann would be a good choice to go ‘speak to the President’. Nelson and Landrieau might see a chance to redeem themselves.

WHen he gets low enough he’ll declare himself “king” for life....After all he won.

If this is a three day average, expect the numbers to go down even more in the next two days.

His Some-hit was not what he planned...

“GOP Party of KNOW!” turned it around on him.

May I take this idea, which is brilliant, and write an editorial?

No, on second thought, I won't do that. I think I need to not give the enemy any ideas.

Somewhere, I read that the differential between “total approve” and “strongly disapprove” is important. When that number turns negative a potential tipping point has been reached.

I have no idea if this is truly the case, but the latest Rasmussen poll shows a 43% strongly disapprove and a total approve of 44%.

Tick tock tick tock ..

Next stop high 30’s. Obama reminds me of a stiry about how to yunt monkeys in India. They have these vases with very narrow opening. They put an apple in the vase and the monkey reaches in to grab it. the problem is that when the money makes a fist, his fist is too big to get out of the vase and the vase is too heavy for the monkey to run away with.

The greed for the apple is what gets him caught and killed for food. The monkey jst won’t let go.

Obama is the same. He has stuck his hand into the health care apple and he is now paralyzed. He won’t let go and his fate is sealed.

He is headed to the slaughter house. Did you see the videos of his face at the healt care summit yeasterday? My god. If looks could kill he would have slaughtered all the Republicans.

This guy is toast. The big, big problem is mitigating the damage he will do on his way out.

0bama is mostly a symptom of the liberal disease. The 44% is the liberal cell count, and we need to get it down to near zero for a full recovery.

Get well soon America.

Can anyone design a get well card for America. It would be a lot of fun to send them to Congress. (along with a tea bag ;-)

It’s apipe dream if you think the elders are going to tell him anything. The wonderful thing about Obama is that he has chained his foot to his ideology. He will go down with the ship. No doubt. Ain’t it great.

start from scratch. and then go onto to latch onto 2-3 of the GOP ideas

In all fairness, its too late in the election season to start from scratch and get something through both houses before the election. What he needs to save the midterms for himself is a victory now.

I think we need to have an all out congressional inquiry as to exactly who these 44% are.

"What he needs to save the midterms for himself is a victory now."

That's certainly what Rahm Emanuel is telling him, to be sure. But, I think it's really the polar opposite. I think this will cement for the Dems huge losses in both Houses of Congresses.

Obama could have embraced the Wyden-Bennett bill (Healthy American Act) yesterday; Far from a perfect bill but it was a bill which got good marks from the WSJ and had bi-partisan support back in 2007. The GOP didn't kill HAA, the libs did. I think it would have passed without the support of the far left and the far right, but it still would have passed.

Independents, the people that have abandoned Obama, love to see bills passed with bi-partisan support. Ramming something through as significant as this on a purely partisan basis is going to even further alienate those Independents in the fall, spelling disaster for the DNC.

Clinton learned his lesson after his own health care debacle. He embraced - kicking and screaming - welfare reform and in the process, he got back all those independents that he lost in the '92 mid-terms which then propelled him to an easy reelection in '94.. I think Obama is a MUCH slower learner that Clinton, and he's going to pay a political price for it.

"No, on second thought, I won't do that. I think I need to not give the enemy any ideas. "

Don't worry about it. I'm fairly confident neither Harry Reid nor Nancy Pelosi can read, and Obama is too busy admiring himself in the mirror to care.
