Sarah PAC, the political action committee of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, collected $1.4 million over the final six months of 2009, a solid -- if not spectacular -- total that demonstrates her fundraising capacity as she mulls a bid for national office in 2012. "We are thrilled," said Palin senior adviser Meg Stapleton about the fundraising total. "Common sense Americans know the direction we need to take this country and that Sarah Palin will be instrumental in taking us there this year."

Subject: FW: Sarah Palin Should Disassociate from John McCain

Lars Larson just wrote back and said he agreed with what I said. I wonder if Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity also agree?

Subject: Sarah Palin Should Disassociate from John McCain

I think my thought on the subject of Sarah Palin campaigning for John McCain goes back to when “W” campaigned to Arlen Specter in the state’s primary election. I decided then that national figures could campaign in a state for the general election for a state or national office. However, during the primary cycle it should be up to people and organizations representing people in the state to make the case.

Palin owes McCain nothing. She was the only bright spot in a failed campaign and he treated her terribly as I noted would be the case in this August 2008 letter to the editor titled “Sarah Palin’s New Battles’. It seems to me the loyalty issue is a guilt card one may or may not play successfully within the political class, which often lacks integrity. Any association with McCain has and will only degrade Palin.

Too many politicians such as McCain consider members of the Democrat Party colleagues, instead of an implacable enemy. These Democrat adversaries represent by philosophy a latter day Vladimir Lenin who said, “Probe with a bayonet. If you meet steel, stop. If you meet mush, then push.”

The key point Republican politicians need to note (and McCain will not) is that if one encounters steel Lenin’s instruction is to stop. He does not counsel retreat. Instead, wait until the steel changes to mush. Politically active people who want smaller government and greater freedom do not understand they are in a war without bloodshed against an implacable enemy. The town hall meetings and Tea Party movement seem to indicate some folks are willing to acknowledge, for now, a long standing declaration of war by the liberals. They must remain steadfast and only support leaders who have a genetic predisposition to freedom equivalent to the men who wrought the Miracle in Philadelphia.

Conservatives associating with the Republican Party view Sarah Palin positively, but manifold enemies surround her. McCain forces will grant her such selective influence as increase daily polling numbers. According to Republican elites the era of Ronald Reagan and William F. Buckley is over, so maintaining conservative credentials means fighting a political Cold War. Principled action demands extraordinary energy, cunning and allies to fight battles within the campaign as severe as any against the Democrats.

Sarah Palin can easily follow downward paths similar to Ike Eisenhower’s in relationships with political elites. When Republicans chose Ike, Harry Truman said they would eat him alive. Truman foretold Ike’s principle compromises, even as Republican leaders maintained Ike’s proven character was vital to reverse ever-diminishing Republican Party influence.

The first major principle abandonment came when Joe McCarthy denounced George Marshall as a Communist. General Marshall had promoted Eisenhower over hosts of more senior officers, and supported his assignment as commander of the D-Day invasion. Ike decreed McCarthy would not board his train in Wisconsin. Ike would also present a tribute to Marshall in Milwaukee. First aides, through supposed miscommunication, allowed McCarthy on the train. Political aides then not only dissuaded Ike from delivering the tribute, but also convinced him to appear with McCarthy in speeches. Eventually Ike would participate in political lies surrounding the U-2, completely stifling the character and principles of the man leading allied troops on D-Day.

Sarah Palin’s conservative stature requires overcoming McCain’s additive fawning for media, and liberal approbation.
