Former President George H.W. Bush officially endorsed Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Republican of Texas, in her gubernatorial primary against sitting Gov. Rick Perry.
Barbara and I are taking this unusual step of endorsing in this primary because of our unbridled belief in Kay, Mr. Bush said in a statement posted on Ms. Hutchisons campaign Web site Wednesday. She is strong. She has proven her steadfast commitment to the issues and values that unite Texas Republicans.
Mr. Perry is ahead in polls leading up to the Republican primary on March 2 which also happens to be Texas Independence Day.

Now Bush 41 has made up my mind for me.
Perry it is.
I was going to vote for Perry anyways but this endorsement reinforced it for me.
I read early on that Cheney is supporting Kay which was a total shock. Anymore word on that?
IMO Cheney’s endorsement is justified by long-time friendship. Bush’s endorsement by something else...
Dittoes, although I don’t get a vote, being a hundred miles west of Texas.
If GHWB is fer it, I gotta be a mite suspicious of it.
My money is going to the Republican in the race, Medina.
If Kay is the nominee, I bet Bill White beats her.
How many are running for Governor? I thought it was between Perry and Kay?
On the Rep side, its Kay, Perry and Medina that hold top three spots.
On the Dem side its Bill White and a muslim billionaire, Farouk Shami in the top spots.
Go Medina.

exactly how I feel
Farouk Shami, Governor of Texas?
I like and respect Bush Senior, but this is simply a matter of one RINO supporting another RINO!
Don’t know why he would want to run against Perry his biggest haircare customer.
