Republicans ahead in Massachussetts
Telegraph Blogs (U.K.) ^ | January 15, 2010 | Daniel Hannan

Look at this: a new poll puts the Republican candidate ahead in Massachussetts. The hereditary Kennedy fiefdom is going off that family’s annointed candidate. The bluest of blue states is turning against the tax-and-spend policies of the Democratic legislature. Voters who, for 47 years, returned the upper chamber’s chief proponent of government-run healthcare, now say (by 51 per cent) that the nationalisation of healthcare is wrong and (by 61 per cent) that America cannot afford it.

What’s going on? Part of the explanation is that the people of Massachussetts seem to prefer the Republican candidate, Scott Brown, on a personal level. As Mark Steyn puts it:

“Even if you’re a Democrat, somewhere deep down you know that Martha Coakley wasn’t what your party needed at this stage in the political cycle — a grim hack career pol embarrassingly stupid and inarticulate on matters domestic (if you’re religious, don’t work in an emergency room) and foreign (my sister can see the Middle East from her house) who reacts to awkward questions by complaining the press is stalking her and standing by as aides send them crashing to the sidewalk, and whose entire campaign has no rationale other than hereditary entitlement.”

At the same time, Americans are beginning to realise that, in transferring colossal sums of money from taxpayers to bankers, Congress may have very seriously bished. Barack Obama now says that he wants the money back. But who handed it over in the first place?

It really doesn’t matter how many votes he gets. if the dims count them, it may be close, but the dim will win, and I suspect ACORN folks will be counting.

For those of us in the UK, isn't it great that Daniel Hannan is quoting Mark Steyn?

I’m hopeful that Brown can win, but until the votes are counted and it is official, I just can not get too excited about this... maybe I’m just too jaded by the endless lies of the media, but I can’t help but think they are reporting Brown ahead, so when that libtard Coakley wins on Tuesday, they can proclaim it as proof of Obama’s greatness and a mandate for healthcare socialization.

Or the media is showing Brown ahead to try and motivate the lazy dems to get off the sofa and go vote Tuesday.

Agreed. I just cannot believe that the liberal infestation of Taxachussets, the very same idiots that have repeatedly placed Kerry and “Chappy” in the Senate for DECADES, have the ability to allow a Republican to represent them.

MA residents voting AGAINST socialism? I can’t see it happening... it’s part of their genetic composition.

•People in ANY state can volunteer for the phone bank! http://www.resistnet.com/forum/topics/phone-calls-for-freedom-call-1?commentId=2600775%3AComment%3A1891491&xg_source=activity

•Anyone… Anywhere… Contribute! https://www.icontribute.us/scottbrown

•Live in or near MA? Volunteers still needed at many regional offices. If you can help, please email Laura@brownforussenate.com and she will tell you how.

•If you live in Massachusetts, become an election judge. In Boston they pay $135-$185 and they NEED Republican monitors.

Needed; military and retired law enforcement VFW and police organizations etc to monitor polls- prevent the voter fraud they’re plotting right now. Video tape everything; document everything; prosecute the perpetrators. http://www.cityofboston.gov/news/default.aspx?id=3599
