Here is a video report on West Virginia Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd becoming the longest serving member of Congress in American History. Byrd was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1953, and was then elected to the Senate in 1958. He is now serving his ninth term in the Senate.
The report says Byrd has a 98% attendance record over these nearly 59 years in Congress, and he has cast more than 18,000 votes. Byrd will turn 92 years old this coming Friday. . . . (VIDEO)

A Happy Day for Grand KKK members everywhere!
What a racist.
None, or few of these people ‘serve’. They live lives of privilege on the taxpayer’s dime. When is the last time you felt that someone in elected office was actually ‘serving’ you?
92 in Congress!
first questions - AFTER dealing with my aging parents who are no longer with us:
1) HOW does he get around?
2) How many naps per day does he take?
3) How’s his HEARING?
4) WHO casts his vote for him?
These are very valid questions.
He is a willing tool.

“...elected to the Senate in 1958.”
My mom had bedsheets that old!
Bet he does, too!
Lifetime of privilege all on the taxpayer dime.
Doddering incoherent embarrassing useless eater, and that was 40 years ago.
Reminds me of “grandpa” in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. Wants to help brain the victim, but can’t grip the hammer and needs someone to swing it for him.
And may he continue wearing rubber sheets to congress every day. What a puke! Conscience of the Senate, my a$$! An incredible, 1800’s racist and bigot . . . a horrible person.
How can someone who hasn’t been in Congress for months be considered to be “active?”
How NICE! Was this taken recently??? or in the 60’s...
Absolutely first in line of poster child for TERM LIMITS.
Why are pubbies considered racists when an old KKK puke can, as recently as 2003, on a FOX interview with Tony Snow {God rest his soul} use the word “nigger” three times and never be chastised by the right rev jesse, or fat albert or rev wright?
Byrd is exactly the reason that term limits are necessary. The Founders never envisioned people spending their entire lives in office, living like Oriental potentates on public money.
