Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs with both Liberty Counsel and Liberty Alliance Action, issued the following statement on news that the voters of Maine have rejected counterfeit “same-sex marriage” by 53% - 47%.
"...even in one of the most liberal States in the Union, Maine, the people have once again rejected the ridiculous and oxymoronic notion of ‘same sex marriage.’ The momentum has again shifted – hopefully for good this time – in favor of protecting legitimate marriage. A counterfeit is a counterfeit. An orange is an orange no matter how much you want it to be a turnip. This isn’t about ‘marriage.’ It’s about hurting and broken people desperately seeking affirmation of an objectively deviant lifestyle. One that, even in their heart of hearts, they know to be a dead end. As for the militant ‘No on 1’ homosexual activists? I’m reminded of spoiled children dressing up and playing house, refusing to come in when mom calls for dinner."

Marriage has a specific meaning (man & women). To my liberal friends with limitless tolerance, please find another word to define the phenomena of homosexual relationships.
I like the headline. It’s much more honest than “gay marriage.”

Hmmm... I remember a year ago when the state-run media termed this margin a “convincing” win for 0bama. Fast-forward to the Maine vote and it’s “narrow.”

Gay marriage isn’t about equal rights. Its about taking a religious ceremony and debasing it. If you ask a lib about marriage they will tell you how little respect they have for it and all the misery marriage has caused. So, they couldn’t care less about the equality issue. They want the right to tell religions what they can and cannot believe. They want to control who has access to the First Ammendment.

Conservatives need to take back the language. At our home, “gay” means cheerful and lighthearted. Homosexuality is what conservatives should use to describe the mental disorder that is same-sex attraction.
You realize that a few months ago, the New York Times and several big publications made a decision to no longer refer to man / woman as “marriage”. Instead it is going to always be “opposite sex marriage” and gay marriage will be “same sex marriage”. The theory behind it is that by distancing traditional heterosexual marriage from the term itself, they can change the vernacular. As people get used to the phrasing on the news, in magazines, or in the newspaper, they are banking on psychology; it will seem irrational to stop one type of marriage and not the other.
