At this time, three months ago, I was wrestling with a decision. A decision as to whether or not to run in a special election to fill the seat vacated by the new secretary of the Army, John McHugh. If you had told me 90 days later I would be penning an op-ed piece for the New York Post, I would have laughed in disbelief. I would have laughed even louder had you told me that I would be receiving endorsement and support from political leaders like Fred Thompson, former Majority Leader Dick Armey, or Sarah Palin. Or appearing on broadcast media with national audiences, as their hosts peppered me with questions about the future of the GOP and our nation.

When WE, the citizens and voters of this nation insist on that course of action ourselves, in large numbers, we will inact change.
That is what is happening with Sarah and others who are supporting Hoffman...and it is what MUST happen with each of us. It will force the GOP back to the constitution, and back to its own platform for Heaven's sake.
When we do, the right candidates and the right parties will rise to the top like cream rises to the top of fresh milk because we will have insisted and forced it to be so.
The FR sanctioned:
RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION EFFORT
which is an FR Alliance web site, is about precisely that. Please join us, and a lot of other FREEPERS there, as we work together and identify and support candidates dedicated to doing precisely that at all levels.
Just pointing that out because you might be interested in the comments over there.
Has everyone seen this: “The Most Important Number in Politics Today.”
Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal). He has said he will caucus with the Republicans if elected, so if you are concerned about who he would support for speaker, or whether he will get committee assignments, he will be on board with the Conservative Republicans.
Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.
Scozzafava also holds these positions:
Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.
This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.
There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the House who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Pete Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.
Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th (website for info). Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district. |
Great piece penned by Mr Hoffman. Simply great.
“Im a lifelong Republican running as the nominee of the New York State Conservative Party. I didnt leave the Republican Party, the party left me.”
The party hacks are dem moles.
R.S. McCain has been on the scene in NY and has some excellent stuff on the race. He blogged this morning on this NY Post article:
"What Hoffman says about not being a "professional politician" is dead very important. Doug Hoffman's campaign has been likened to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, but it could also be compared to Revenge of the Nerds...If it's slick speech-making and "charisma" you're looking for, that ain't Doug Hoffman. I've said before that some guys (e.g., Bill Clinton) go into politics for the same reason teenage boys learn to play guitar. IYKWIMAITYD. And that ain't Doug Hoffman, either. If he's elected to Congress, Hoffman will instantly become No. 1 on any list of "Washington Politicians Least Likely to Be Involved in a Sex Scandal." The guy's an accountant, for crying out loud.
Attention all FredHeads. Man your battle stations.

I agree! with one exception...he makes no mention of our national security and what he wants to do with the 15 - 35 million illegal aliens that have invaded our country. I would hope that any party deemed conservative would require it’s candidate to declare his/her position very clearly on the the issue that, IMO, is more important than all others. I’d like to know what Doug’s position is, because some candidates will refuse to discuss it so as not to “offend” the hispanic community. In any event, he is far more conservative than his Republican opponent.
And he probably pays top dollar too in taxes for the rewards of his honest hard earned labors. Unlike Charlie Rangel who gets to cheat on his taxes and gets the royal DemRat worship! Twisted cretins are they of the left.

AMEN!!
I’m all for a wall 50 feet high and as thick as needed. Perhaps he could have mentioned his stance in the op ed but he covered plenty of points along with getting a few jabs in at the opposition
I was thrilled to learn that Fred Thompson was behind Hoffman!
“Im all for a wall 50 feet high and as thick as needed. Perhaps he could have mentioned his stance in the op ed but he covered plenty of points along with getting a few jabs in at the opposition”
Then you may be disappointed, as I was, to read this from his website:
“Where do you stand on illegal immigration?”
“There is no question that our immigration policies are flawed. The answer, though, is not to put up a wall and stop all immigration. The answer is to create an easier path for immigrants to enter the United States and to work here while at the same time getting tough on illegal immigrants who commit crimes.”
Like most RHINO’s, he’s interested only in “getting tough” with those illegal aliens he perceives as “criminals” and rather than “putting up a wall”, he wants easier access. While he is far better than Dede on other positions (I do NOT support her, at all) it is sad news to me that anyone with such a position on national security/illegal immigration would be widely accepted as a ‘conservative’. I had hoped that conservatives would not find themselves, again, supporting the ‘lesser of the evils’, and GOP aside, my hope was that a ‘Conservative’ party would be just that, conservative.
