Hmm, so the only guy who goes on the record in this piece, and twice no less, is a “Romney ally” and “GOPer” close to Mitt Romney. I have a list of who I suspect that may be. I also highly doubt that said Romney ally would be giving out such bon mots without the approval of Willard himself. That’s all this is about.
He mentions the Twitter thing. When you have close to 1 million people on your facebook page who needs twitter. No point in doing both. BTW, how many tweets has Romney issued? Her facebook page is 2nd only to Obama in terms of popularity among politicians. What’s Romney’s?
The scheduling conflicts is a legitimate point and I think she has been to blame there and does need to fix that up. You can’t keep stiffing people. But I think a lot of that is because she’s so far away and each trip is a major effort. Still, a fair point.
He makes a big deal out of “Going Rogue”. Obama’s secret service code name was Renegade and the title of the book about his campaign was Renegade. What voter wants a renegade President? Apparently quite a few. Also, the title is clearly showing her sense of humor, something Mitt clearly doesn’t have.
He describes the HK speech as rambling when even the NYT said it went over rather well.
He does have a good point about needing help. She will need a Rove, Carville, Atwater, Axelrod type eventually. Everyone does.
Spoken like a soon to be unemployed GOP consultant.

The facts for Gov. Palin’s appeal:
1. 924,000+ plus members on Facebook (Mr. Romney 79,000+ members)
2. A bestselling book (Mr. Romney’s book is unnoticed);
3. A solid and committed conservative base (With a weaken Republican field in 2007 and 2008, he was unable to win over conservatives);
4. Able to draw large crowds in the tens of thousands to campaign rallies in conjunction with an implusive reactionary Media which follows her every move (Currently, Romney could barely draw a 100 people to a rally); and
5. Political shrewdness and skill (via Facebook) in constructively criticizing and offering alternatives to Liberal/progessive policies. (What has Romney accomplished in the last six months that could be construed as effecting any political influence on policy debates?)
When will these so-called Republican strategists/GOP consultants wake up and see the light?
Increasingly, these GOP consultants are becoming more obsolete and irrelevant.
To give you an idea of the “quality” of mind Feehery has and his capacity as a leading GOP consultant paid millions for wise counsel; at the same time obama was trashing America over in Europe, Feehery gushed that “he just couldn't help but like the guy” and that he “was relieved to have him as president after the inarticulate Bush”.

Meg Stapleton does a great job at making Palin look bad with these speaking engagement screw ups. If Palin is serious about higher office, then getting rid of Stapleton is a step in the right direction.
Notice how the article manages to spring in a plug for Mitt’s book? I didn’t even know he had a book, what it’s title was, or when it was coming out. No one did. So this Romney guy goes to Corn and trashes Palin in return for him mentioning Mitt’s book. Naturally because it’s about Palin this article will get high traffic and everyone who reads it now knows about Mitt’s book. Pretty sleazy if you ask me. It’s like crashing someone else’s press conference.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Mitt is standing in the line for one of her sigings with a big billboard.

Corn is generally one of the more despicable people in journalism, but I actually have to grant him several points here: the scheduling snafus, the scuffle in VA, the unedited resignation speech and maybe even the book title are all unforced errors that just a competent PR staffer could have avoided.
But she’s also got a killer serve and ground strokes that neither Romney nor any of the other candidates can match. Any athlete needs a coach to help her minimize the errors, yet if she wins it will be because of her natural strengths.
If Palin was serious about running, then she would have let Meg Stapleton go and kept Randy Scheunemann.
I agree. Getting into it with the likely future governor of a swing state like VA is just embarrassing. Palin’s on target with so much, but she seems to let her staffer treat would-be strategic supporters inexcusably.
