Jews Have More Claim to Jerusalem than the French in Paris or Germans in Berlin Posted by smoothstone

It is a mistake to think of Judeophobia being a mostly Muslim problem, since we already know that Islamism is a culture of Jew-hatred that permeates books, magazines, newspapers, sermons, the Internet, television and radio in the Arab Middle East. Sadly, Judeophobia is a global problem. As Joel Hilliker writes, history shows undeniably that the greatest persecutions of Jews have come at the hands of Western Christian society—tracing back clear to the first Roman Empire. But in spite of the hatred that the world has for the Jew, Jerusalem will always be Jewish. Via JPost: Benjamin Disraeli, the prime minister of the United Kingdom at the turn of the 20th century, told detractors who heckled him as a Jew when he rose to speak in parliament: “My people were kings in Jerusalem while you were still scratching around in the fields for mushrooms.” The point is, Jerusalem was the capital of Israel long before Berlin or New York even existed. The city has been the capital of only one people, and that is the Jewish people. When the Ottoman Turks conquered the region and reigned over it for 400 years, they never treated the city as anything more than a backwater provincial town. How strange it is then that the world believes that the ancient biblical city should not be Jewish. The Jews have more claim to Jerusalem than the French have to Paris or the Germans to Berlin or the British to London. This is a people that for thousands of years expressed its attachment to and longing for the city by exclaiming every Passover: “Next year in Jerusalem!” The city has been the capital of only one people, and that is the Jewish people. No other nation can or should lay claim to it. As Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently declared, “Jerusalem is not a settlement!” It is the City of David, Solomon, the great prophets and sages of the Bible, and the city that Jesus himself prayed for and recognized as Jewish. Even the Patriarch Abraham, 4,000 years ago, travelled to Moriah and the city of Salem to worship God. It is from this divine encounter that the city, even the modern one, takes its name. It is Jerusalem, the city of peace and of righteousness. It is absurd to think otherwise, and yet this is the nature of the global political consensus today. It is nothing short of shameful.

The actual quote : "Yes, I am a Jew, and when the ancestors of the right honorable gentleman were brutal savages in an unknown island, mine were priests in the temple of Solomon."

Although I prefer Myron Cohen's version:

Yes, I am a Jew, and when the ancestors of the right honorable gentleman were brutal savages in an unknown island, mine HAD DIABETES!

history shows undeniably that the greatest persecutions of Jews have come at the hands of Western Christian society—tracing back clear to the first Roman Empire.

Is the author high?

Rome was not Christian and in fact by the time Christians came to be, they swiftly became torches for the avenues that Roman Jews walked along.

Further, the Holocaust was perpetrated by a very non-Christian body.

Jews are not the only religious group to suffer persecutions.

Depends on how you look at it.

Jerusalem is God's City, he just allowed the Jews to live there.

Now that he kicked them out using the Romans, destroyed the Temple (as Jesus prophesied), the question is whether the current state of Israel has been properly restored to the Jews by God Himself; or did the Rothschild influence over the British Government (the Balfour Declaration) represent an attempt to do an end-run around God's plan.

Considering the level of corruption in Israeli society, the "Samson Option", that prostitution is completely legal, etc. I question whether this behavior represents the Godly nation that is supposed to be "a light to all nations". What percentage of Israelis are religious vs. secular?

How typical that a poster here, Ikka, would not express his/her perplexed state of mind regarding the criminal behavior of Germany, Poland, Morocco, Armenia, Turkey, Russia, China or any of the Muslim countries currently slaughtering innocents around the world.

After World War II - Poland annexed 10% of historic Germany (East Prussia). Does Poland deserve its land based on its criminal behavior? Or how Morocco controls the Western Sahara? Or how Armenia has controlled 15% of neighboring Azerbaijan since 1994? Or how Turkey has controlled half of Cyprus since its 1974 invasion? Or how Russia has controlled the Kurile Islands off northern Japan for 63 years and China has occupied Tibet since 1950?

The humor is in the fact that one poster is so perplexed by facts that they can’t answer for why they are not outraged that Czechoslovakia expelled its Sudetenland Germans from their homes after World War II? Or that the Poles expelled millions of Germans from East Prussia in 1945? Or that thousands of Turkish Cypriots were displaced by Greek military forces in the 1960s while Turkish forces displaced thousands of Greek Cypriots from Northern Cyprus after their 1974-1976 war? Or that 450,000 ethnic Chinese were expelled from Vietnam in 1978-1979? Or that the Bangladeshis expelled over three million Hindus in 1974? Or that 250,000 Georgians were displaced from Abkhazia between 1993 and 1998, not to mention more than 500,000 ethnic Russians in Chechnya who were displaced during the First Chechen War in 1994-1996 and more than 800,000 Kosovar Albanians who were expelled from Kosovo in 1998-1999?

But most importantly, there are currently 30 conflicts around the world and 25 of them involve Islam. Muslims are slaughtering innocents in Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Cyprus, East Timor, India, Indonesia (2 provinces), Kashmir, Kazakastan, Kosovo, Kurdistan, Macedonia, the Middle East, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sudan, Russia-Chechnya, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan.

Just as Germans can live in France and the French in Germany, Jews should be and will continue to live in their homeland and remain in Hebron and Gaza as Arabs remain in Jaffa and their Galilee villages.

I would have felt better if Ikka had any guts to mention his recognition of the goals of Hizbullah as part of an axis of terror which also includes Syria, Iran and Hamas, to set the region in flames and dictate the Israeli-palestinian agenda.

Apparently, Ikka is too busy launching attacks against Israeli society to take much notice.

The fact that Jews in the British Mandate have been attacked by Arabs since the early 1900’s - was not because of any territorial dispute - but just because Jews existed.

No doubt Islam is the root of the problem. The fact that currently there are 30 conflicts around the world and 25 of them involve Islam proves my point.

Poland "annexed" nothing. Stalin "gave" Poland East Prussia after taking even more Polish land and incorporating it into the Soviet Union.

Spewing vitriol in an attempt to avoid answering the question is not a valid way to engage in debate or discussion.

Your premise was "Jews have a more valid claim to Jerusalem than anyone else" citing religious beliefs and behaviors as part of that.

I pointed out some holes in your argument - that Rothschild politically influenced the British to write the Balfour Declaration; that God kicked the Jews out of Jerusalem by using the Romans, and if He wanted the Jews back no political machinations were necessary.

You seem to be one of those folks who support a side of an argument but without the background in history and politics to truly defend it.

If the Arabs don’t want to live with Jews they can go back to Jordan or Egypt.
