Well I listened to it.
I don’t see where the woman says it was from vaccinations.
From what I heard it is the talking heads assuming it was the government experimenting on the sailors with vaccinations shots.
Why isn’t it far more likely that someone picked up the swine flu at one of their port stops and infected the ship. That’s not hard to believe at all.
I listened to the audio: the person reporting the outbreak does not actually say that the sailors received any H1N1 vaccine - the person being interviewed jumps to that conclusion. This sounds more like an outbreak of H1N1 disease.
Plus, the H1N1 vaccine has not yet been released. My son, who is a Marine out of Miramar has only received the seasonal flu shot (by pneumatic injection), and is to be called back for the H1N1 when it becomes available.
I find it hard to believe that they flew an as-yet-unreleased vaccine to ships in the Pacific to “test” before they made it available stateside to troops who are more readily available and observable.
On the other hand, an outbreak of H1N1 disease which may have been contracted by sailors on liberty in a foreign port (especially if they were in the Southern Hemisphere, where it is flu season) fits this scenario perfectly.
Given that this is the military and a third hand account, I would wait until more information comes out before pushing it.

I heard the earlier interview some time ago. But I don’t have it handy.

It isn’t like the government hasn’t experiemented on servicemen before, is it? The servicemen ORDERED to observe nuclear tests at the Nevada Test Site beginning in the early 50’s are all mostly dead now so they’re not around to tell the story of how and why they died — many far too young.
I would suggest people hold back on this. In a cursory check I made of probably five or six different Google hits, they all point back to the same video.
Given that this is a THIRD hand account, I suggest people just take it easy until the actual facts are known.
The military and their families are rife with the rumor mills, I know because I participated in them as both military family and active military. It is as old a swords.
I am not saying this did or did not happen. All I am saying is that there is a third hand account from someone (who is concerned they are divulging classified material) and I haven’t seen anything yet on this anywhere else.
There could indeed be a dead Lt. Commander and Chief, but it could have been an accident, a fight, or even a completely different illness.
I just counsel people to wait a little bit.
