NUT-JOB ALERT ! Environmentalist After Soft Toilet Paper.
Washington Post/The Lid ^ | 9/24/09 | The Lid

OMG ! This environmental movement is getting to be a royal pain in the arse... literally. For those of you who like to use soft plush toilet paper you better hide because the environmentalists are coming after you. According to a report in the WAPO soft toilet paper is a menace "a dark-comedy example of American excess."

The reason, they say, is that plush U.S. toilet paper is usually made by chopping down and grinding up trees that were decades or even a century old. They want Americans, like Europeans, to wipe with tissue made from recycled paper goods.

European toilet paper is also known as sand paper.

Doesn’t this make him an a$$wipe, as opposed to a nutjob? ;-P

This is BS. Trees for paper products are grown just like any other crop. Definitely not old growth stuff.

I actually brought a roll of toilet paper home from the old Soviet Union to show people because I couldn’t believe anyone could use such a thing. I’m sure that’s what they have in mind - recycled Starbucks cups with the consistency of sandpaper.

The hardcores don't even want us using paper.

Is there not one, single aspect of our lives they can let be? When I am queen, I will impose a new rule: you object to something, such as soft toilet paper, internal combustion engines, coal-generated power, etc., you no longer have access to that technology, and are required by law to return to the earlier, more environmentally sound technology of corn cobs and leaves, walking or horse-drawn carriages, kerosene lanterns or go to bed at sunset, and no heat in your home.

Actually, most is made from Southern pines and Douglas firs which are farmed trees.

What’s their address? Great time of year to send them dried corncobs. We’ll keep the soft stuff and the water, THEY can use the corncobs and the privy.
