Homophobia in the Islamic World: The Religion of Oppression

"Homosexuality is one of the most disgusting sins and greatest crimes.... It is a vile perversion that goes against sound nature, and is one of the most corrupting and hideous sins.... The punishment for homosexuality is death. Both the active and passive participants are to be killed whether or not they have previously had sexual intercourse in the context of a legal marriage.... Some of the companions of the Prophet stated that [the perpetrator] is to be burned with fire. It has also been said that he should be stoned, or thrown from a high place." Saudi Textbook Jurisprudence (Fiqh)

When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia University two years ago, declared that there were no Homosexuals in Iran. Many people (including me) thought it a joke. The real reason the Iranian mass-murderer said that there were no Homosexuals in Iran is that being gay in Iran is a capital offense punishable by death.

But its not just Iran and Saudi Arabia, Homosexuality is a crime in most of the fundamental Islamic world

Homofascists, why don’t you try directing your energy at REAL persecution of homosexuals instead of drumming up hatred toward those of us who peacefully disapprove of your behavior?

If homosexuality is a sin, then chimpanzees are capable of sin.

“If homosexuality is a sin, then chimpanzees are capable of sin.”

If cannibalism is sin, then rabbits are capable of sin.

If theft is sin, then monkeys are capable of sin.

If infant murder is sin, then lions are guilty of sin.

If adultery is sin, then horses are guilty of sin.

If incest is sin, then dogs are guilty of sin.

Doesn’t make much sense after all, does it?

All of the above in fact are sins; animals are not however guilty of them, because animals have no souls.

It also occurred to me that I’ve watched dogs follow pooping goats and eat their hot droppings. That’s why I don’t look to animals for my moral standards.

Neither humans, nor animals have souls.

I think you are about to be the recipient of incoming artillery.

I agree, sin doesn’t make sense.

Then why make the distinction between ‘humans’ and animals? If a human is no better than a soulless animal (which we Are, because we have a soul) then the best that we could expect of us would be animal behavior in ourselves.

But, since we do have that pesky little soul, it prompts us to better behavior (at least those who listen). It prompts us to aspire for more, to seek out our Creator.

You’d be surprised at how much animalistic behaviour comes out of humans, if you care to investigate. We are intelligent, by way of a bigger brain devoted to thinking purposes; not because of the existence of some ethereal, non-existent substance that’s called ‘soul’.

I made the distinction betwwn ‘humans’ and animals as an effect of the way the English language (or any other, for that matter) was formed. For technical purposes, we are the human-animal.

WATCH: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofpYRITtLSg

Is there any “soul” in the subject of the video above?

That aside, I’ll simply ask you this: When do human beings “get” this soul?

Can’t see youtube here. Sorry about that.

We are intelligent, at least claim to be.

Conception is, in my opinion, when it is ‘gotten’. It is a human life, unique and wonderful.

Thanks for the reply.

Please try to watch that video when you can- it is important for the purpose of this discussion.

So you say souls are ‘gotten’ during conception. Now I’ll ask you this: When human and animal gametes fuse, they do “conceive” upto the blastocyst stage, after which, incompatible genetics kills the new organism (about five days). Do these human-animal hybrids, for the period during which they are alive, have souls?

“Neither humans, nor animals have souls.”

Wow. Going to have to disagree with you there.

I watched the video. It was remarkable. We have probably all seen examples of animals doing compassionate things, at least on nature programs. For instance, the elephants who appear to grieve over dead kin. Or dogs who nurse baby kittens, etc.

So perhaps our question is, what makes a soul? Exhibited compassion? Intelligence?

In that case, the dog in the video would have a soul, and a person in a coma would not. Nor would a baby, or a severely retarded person, and so on.

But a soul, biblically defined (and it is a biblical term) is a unique individual created in God’s image.

The difference between men and animals is: men are made in God’s image. The rest of the creation, beautiful as it can be, is not made in God’s image.

You have a soul. I have a soul. Charles Manson has a soul, and so does Mother Theresa. All God’s children got soul.

What we do with our souls is another question. . .

We can “what-if” all day long and play word games. Human-animal combos (Chimeras) are abominations. Just because we CAN do something is never a reason To Do it.

Would such a creature possess a soul? What condition would that soul exist in? What is its ultimate fate? One would need to go over my pay-grade. But Questions such as that are why Chimeras, as well as clones, while an ‘attractive’ “What-If” are not something we want to pursue, as it begins to overstepour role as creatures ourselves. They deman human life.

My question to you is, since you proclaim to have no soul, do you believe that at your death, you just cease to be? If that is the case, then does humanity have any purpose at all here?

Yes. You lose the sense of awareness. Much like deep sleep, except "more" permanent. You won't sense a tiny difference between the passage of a nanosecond and a billion years.

As for humanity having purpose, to assume an answer in the positive, would require one to picture the humans "with purpose" as more-or-less functional and intact. I will answer this question, by posing another question in turn- do stillborn foetuses have any purpose? Many of them, mind you, expelled without the mother even being aware of the expulsion?
