RIP, Patrick Swayze.

Red Dawn was a provocative movie, I thought about it for 3 days after seeing it. The ending scene made me realize how my Dad’s friends felt about fighting in WWII, and how no one else cares about it any more, it’s ancient history, that kinda stuff.

Not true, but understand your thought. The movie made an impression on me also.

7 Days In May was poignant for me. Had a relative working for the AEC.

Duck and Hide was pointless (owing to where I lived, multiple targeting - hard lesson to realize at 11 y/o)

Took from Red Dawn the need for internal resistance needed in order for our Constitution to survive.

Doubt the movie would have been 'believable' in an East coast large city environment (consider a large city becomes prison... logical, but absolutely NOT desirable)

If I remember correctly, the premise of Red Dawn was that the Soviets used tactical nuclear weapons on cities where defense and industry were concentrated, and then shipped in troops to attack the smaller areas and gain control of farmland, etc.

Been a long time, but I recently bought the DVD. I need to get it out and watch it again. However, that movie really scared me when I was a kid. I am kind of wondering whether I should re-watch it or not.

I do remember the funny scene where they have to urinate in the radiator of the truck though :) A rare humorous moment in that movie.

Red Dawn was good, but hands-down it was On the Beach (1959) that had the biggest impact on me.

We’re living through Exactly the same Govt encroachment which caused WWII here in our own country.

On the Beach (1959)

Good Lord, thank you and pardon me for forgetting that. I didn't get to see it until later, late night when TV was worth watching. Thread drift to The Bedford Incident?

I hope the remake of the film is even more thought provoking.

The re-make is being filmed right now in Detroit, Michigan.

The movie is actual set in Spokane, Washington.....somehow, Detroit is supposed to double for Spokane.

I also heard that some scenes will be shot in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

And it’s greasier than what a Squid drops on the ocean floor.

What easier way to Take Over than have the Dupes clamoring for Free Health Care? It can’t work due simply to the economics.

And Every Birdbrain WITHOUT a grasp of History falls right in line carrying Placards Clamoring for their OWN Enslavement!
