I'm from North Carolina but was stationed in Charleston for a time in the Navy.
As I remember the association of the crescent and palmetto with South Carolina predate the Republic.

In 1775, Col. William Moultrie designed a flag for his South Carolina militia.It was a blue flag that matched the color of his troops uniforms and a crescent that reproduced the silver emblem worn on the front of their caps.Hm, "William Moultrie" sounds suspiciously Muslim to me.
Did one of them create the Colorado flag as well?

I needed this thread tonight, after the Kennedy nauseating “lets pretend we are back in Camelot” funeral..every once in awhile I would turn on the Tv.
i felt like my TV and fox had been abducted by aleins...THERE WAS THE FUNERAL....its alive!!!

My husband said they are doing away with it, is this true?I heard the same thing but I believe that was their idea when they came up with the new sunset ones, they were going to make us all switch. I just got these plates this year. I think folks complained and that's why they havent' done away with them.
