Does anybody know what happens to the 'banked' assets that are programmed to fund union retiree's health plans? What will happen to those programs if the health care plan package is passed? Are these contracted out to private insurance companies?
Maybe those assets will have to go to the govn't to pay for health care?
I have never been a member of a union but I would think those members would be concerned about this. Or, maybe for their support of the gov't health plan they get to keep their plans (which I understand are really excellent).
I hope this isn't a dumb question.
There are “five” variations of government controlled healthcare rationing being bandied about in the halls of Congress and the dens of lobbyists. NONE of them will remove the union current and retiree benefits from their recipients.
It’s not really possible under contract law in the USA for the govt to renegogiate those contracts.
good question...not sure we can find a real answer.
it will be union and the health care workers will come first. then your congressmans dog and cat, maybe his mother and maybe your neighbor who voted for him....
Oh yeah, try telling that to the GM and Chrysler bond holers. Laws mean nothing to the crooks in the 0bama administration.
That's what the Chrysler and GM bond holders said.
“NONE of them will remove the union current and retiree benefits from their recipients.”
Thus Obama has automatic supporters for this ‘reform’ whose present excellent coverage will continue ad infinitum.
Nice, isn’t it?
It’s just a question, but why are unions legal? They’re really just organized theft and thuggery.
Thanks. That really ticks me off. It feels like so much is truly unfair about all this.
And we are going to transform this great nation’s raison d’etre to make sure roughly 30 million, (including illegals) out of 300 million get coverage.
You know, those fools in congress may just pass this thing, because THEY CAN!
They keep their plans and do not participate in any government health care plan, just like Federal employees.
I believe that union members will be exempt from the new health insurance deals. They will keep their old plans.
