Obama reminiscent of Nixon spying on Americans

President Obama may have taken his efforts to discredit citizens protesting against ObamaCare a little too far.

It is beginning to be reminiscent of the Richard Nixon administration's attempt to stifle dissent by spying on American citizens. Thirty-five years ago, President Richard Nixon claimed constitutional authority to wiretap Americans' phone calls.

It appears that Obama has violated the Privacy Act of 1974 which goes back to the days of the disgraced Nixon period when it used federal agencies to illegally investigate individuals for political purposes. The Act prohibits any federal agency from maintaining records on individuals exercising their right to free speech.

But Obama is from a political machine. The law is no obstacle. Thuggery IS an option. And so on.

This is sacrilege for a liberal rag. Comparing His Highness to Dick Nixon on this level means they’ll be experiencing some backlash. Maybe now they’ll know what it’s like to be level headed in this crazy country.

Yes, but the Obama campaign asked people to do the same during the campaign season to ‘fight the smears’. If you knew of someone who was spreading questionable information, you were to report them. I’ll have to go back and find the exact email address.

NOBODY BLINKED AN EYE, ‘cept maybe us. Any criticism was blamed on racism (and thanks to that the word ‘racist’ is now meaningless, but I digress). Much of what was done in the campaign was done, IMO, to see what they could get away with - and now they are using those techniques with the power of the highest office in the US, sprung there with the silent approval of much of the American public and State Run Media who allowed us not to question The One.

Mark Levin gets credit for equating Nixon & Obama, IIRC. He called that one a long time ago.

Obama is reminiscent of Hugo Chavez.

Ahhhh, per the ‘fight the smears’ website the email address to snitch on people is watchdog@barackobama.com.

I just did a general web search and there seems to be quite an effort to get people to report on each other. Wow.

Well, I'm sure the ACLU is all over this like a bad rash. Aren't they? Certainly they won't stand for this attack on our liberties!

Or maybe the ACLU is a bad rash.

If Democrats begin equating Obama with Nixon it will be a political death sentence. He would have no hope of recovery.

Nixon wasn't doing anything that LBJ or Kennedy hadn't done far far worse, he just made the mistake of being Republican. He gets the discredit of being a President who did all these authoritarian things, but the truth is, all Presidents from FDR on had enemies lists and used government resources against them, and the only difference is Nixon didn't do it as much as LBJ, and he made the mistake of thinking it was OK for the President to do it.

He learned only Democrat Presidents can do that, just as we are about to relearn.

Wilson was our first fascist President. But he was followed by 3 Presidents who did not have enemies lists. Andrew Jackson probably had an enemies list too, but I didn't mention him, because that wasn't the point.

I've known the history of Wilson's Presidency since first studying it in 1977. But you are right to bring it to the attention of people who were unaware.
