I really, really miss Burgess Meredith.
Terriffic actor and quite the ladies man in his day, as evidenced by “Tom Dick and Harry” (1941).

Agree. In "Grumpier Old Men", his penultimate movie, he steals the show from Jack Lemon, Walter Mathau, among others. He portrays the ancient grampa Gustavson as lovable old rogue still in the hunt. He had the best scenes in the movie.

I loved him in the Rocky series. And let us not forget his role as the Penguin in Batman. (Maybe not one of his better roles).

Meridith was 1 of only 2 people to Star in 4 TZ episodes - the other being Jack Klugman. I had noticed before that these two men appeared in several epsisodes but it wasn't until this weekend (during the Sci Fi Channel's TZ Marathon), that I investigated further on Wikipedia and confirmed the above factoid.

Ironically, in another memorable Merideth episode, can't remember the name, but he played a bookworm bank teller that survives a nuckear holocaust, but ... well don't want to spoil the ending. Anyway, the man who played his bankmanager appeared in 5 TZ epsiodes but did not star in any of them.
