Cartoon Network Honoring Memorial Day With Soviet Anthem
Cartoon Network | May 25, 2009 | Self

I have no link or You Tube video of this but thought this was worth mentioning.

While watching Adult Swim (King of the Hill) Cartoon Network ran one of their cutsey bumpers with a Memorial Day theme and chose to use the Soviet national anthem as the theme music.

Here it is comrade! We are here to celebrate the fallen proletariat and defender of Mother Amerika!

Welcome to the USSA.

Are you sure you're not talking about the clip on the Hill's television right after Dale says, "Ahh, Memorial Day, a day when our war heroes are honored by even the most liberal of media."?

I think the Soviet anthem completed the "liberal media" joke. The point being that the liberal media celebrates our enemy's war heroes. Kind of funny.

Glenn Beck has a rather amusing take on the Soviet anthem when he announces that socialism has arrived.

He shouts “COMRADES!!!” then cues it up with lyrics praising Obama instead of the glorious Motherland.

BTW, the current Russian anthem is an only slightly reworded version of the original Soviet tune.

(Same is true of “Deutschland uber Alles”.)
