The war on drugs is rife with unintended consequences. Just like prohabition, it creates criminal black market enterprises that are so lucritive that the cartels eventually out gun law enforcement that they don’t already own.

If he shuts down the war on drugs does his cocaine get cheaper or more expensive? Maybe if he quit using, the demand for drugs in the US would decline.

Perhaps.

In all sober assumption, whether he wants to use legally isn’t really the question. It’s more like the Federal Government is the answer to what the founders perceived as weaknesses in a confederation of soveriegns, and was never intended to be the answer to every other problem under the sun.
