Simon Cowell, the British-accented and sometimes condescending talent judge of television's mega-hit program "American Idol," was stunned by the singing of a 47-year-old church volunteer who claims she's never been kissed but whose amazing performance has catapulted her to sudden celebrity.

I’ve heard she’s fantastic. I have to watch the video when I am not at work.
This has the makings of a very heartwarming story.
Oh my gosh she was awesome
So true.
Absolutely wonderful!
Thanks for posting!
The look on Simon’s face at the first note was just priceless.
Bump
I never watch this show, but while flipping through last night, I caught part of the most horrific rendition “born to be wild” my ear lobes have ever been assaulted by, and yes I’ve middle school kids do this song.
Finally the assault on my ear lobes stopped and I watched 3 judges lay praises on this singer... I was in complete shock, if that’s what passes for good, on that show, its little wonder I manage to avoid it... Simon to his credit did at least state people were going to hate his rendition. To which he got grief from the other 3.
Sorry, but that was absolutely horrific, I briefly caught the girl before him to in another flip through the channels doing an Aerosmith song, and thought she really wasn’t vocally up to the song either. But she definately wasn’t butchinger it as bad as the born to be wild guy did.. holy cow not enough tequila in the world for me to ever think that was a good version.
That is NOT the same show from the clip.
She’s good, reminds me of the opera singer that was a cell phone salesman on this show a few years back, he was completely unexpected and amazing.
Susan IS a little tiger, as Simon said. Brought tears to these old eyes I can tell ya!
Yes, I realized that this was the British version after I posted...
That show actually has found some true amazing talent, the american version hasn’t remotely done so well at finding true undiscovered diamonds.
“NEVER judge a book by its cover!”
Amen!! That was extraordinary, beautiful, and so incredibly moving. What a beautiful woman and talent.
Thank you so much for sharing that.
She looks like hell... but once she opens up with that voice your heart will melt like wax in a blowtorch. What a talent.
Lovely, just lovely.
I hope she uses her talent better than did Charlotte Church, who was also given a heartbreakingly beautiful voice by God, but who threw it all away to become a skank.
I love the little ‘stomp dance’ she did when they gave her three strong yesses.
Call me jaded but I don’t believe for a minute that they didn’t know she could sing. There must be some audition process. I am sure they are given notes from producers, etc.
It will be interesting to see what kind of makeover they do on her. Will they want to keep her frumpy or will they change the eyebrows, hair, and makeup.

Susan Boyle to get a record deal whether she wins or not
It appears that Simon Cowell will give Susan a record deal, even in the unlikely event that she doesnt win. However, Susan is more interested in finding herself a man. The 47 year old admitted on Saturday that she has never been married, never been kissed.
Despite the show being British, Susan has attracted fans from all around the world. The Sun reports, Radio stations and newspapers from the US to Australia viewed the clip online and are now lining up to talk to her. This website has only been online for, at time of writing, 7 hours and has already attracted over 400 visits from the USA, the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, the Philippines, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Ireland and Germany. Susan says, I had no idea the show was a worldwide thing.
Susan hopes the show will find her love, she says she doesnt intend to be alone for long.
