I have heard Davis speak only once, probably back in the seventies. She spoke in this weird, incantational manner. It was all Marxist phrases strung together, but the manner of speech was this sort of hypnotic chant, like what you might hear in a witches’ coven. Not that I have any direct experience of that.
Actually, Obama’s (infuriating, obnoxious, repulsive) habit of punching hard on the last syllable or word of each sentence is intended to be kind of hypnotic. Also, people who read aloud someone else’s thoughts often fall into the habit of inflecting every sentence the same. The inflection becomes utterly rote and has nothing to do with the meaning. The typical lector in church is like this.
