My masochism in watching the MSM has its limits, which I normally draw at Keith Olbermann. So when 8 PM rolled around this evening, I tuned into House rather than Countdown. But even there, I couldnt escape the blogging impulse . . .
A focus of this evenings episode is Houses friendship with fellow doctor James Wilson. One of Houses minions, Dr. Chris Taub, breaks into Wilsons email account to find out why he has rejected Houses invitation to attend a monster-truck show [House is a fan]. It turns out Wilson has a meeting with a doctor specializing in suicide and depression. Taub asks House: have you ever had reason to think he might be depressed? Barks House: No. Get out of here.
Cut to commercial, and immediately the word depression flashes on the screen. Its an ad for Abilify, an add-on treatment for depression . . . .

Brilliant buy by the drug company
Could Olbermann drive you to Abilify ping to Today show list.
Agreed.
Well...it’s not Lupus.
Two words: Product placement.
It's NEVER lupus.
Amyloidosis.
I love House, but I don’t know why. The guy is a jerk. The morals of the characters are non-existent. To top it off, House makes the wrong diagnoses for 45 minutes (several days), then manages to pull off a miraculous cure right at the end. All his patients seem to have at least one heart attack under his care and they have so much vomiting and bleeding from the rectum or out the pores, or somewhere that it is amazing the patient doesn’t die of dehydration or there is any blood left in the blood bank. If anyone on my care team is named “House”, I would chance hospitals.
Having said that, I emjoy the show.
They should be putting those ads during the primetime lineup on MSNBC. Anybody watching that network (aside from the heros at Newsbusters and MRC)is likely a candidate for a mood-altering substance or at least something to deaden that constant feeling of dread and impending doom.
Well...its not Lupus. Or Wernickies.....
