Not really. Actually he has written over Iraq to Iran. Al-Qaeda certainly might try to establish itself again in some Sunni areas, although this is dubious at best. The Sunnis which temporarily accepted Al-Qaeda amongst them, have run out of patience and turned on them. Iran however will be accepted by many influential Shias as a “protector and partner”. Leaving Iraq, without permanently binding in politically to us, means giving it defacto to Iranian influence.
Well, I’m no BHO fan, but didn’t I hear that the current Iraqi government wanted us out by a date certain, anyway? Either they think they have it under control, or they have a death wish.
The only success he will have is from turncoat republicans who keep things functioning well for him,,,like Gates, Powell, McCain, etc.
They give him cover by preventing complete failures that point squarely at Obama.
Sometimes, i think it would be smarter to step back and let Obama show us how its done. Let him appoint a virulently anti-military SecDef who cancels every program we have. When Gates does it for him, it gives the libs cover, after all, BUSH’s SecDef agreed with it,,,McCain voted for it,,etc,,
I don’t think that it’s possible to bring democracy to savage barbarians who think that it’s wonderful to strap bombs around their childrens waists. When we withdraw, that country will go back to the hell that it was, but we won’t hear anything about it in the press.
