In a move to get more customers, or bowing to Muslim sentiment?

I’d think that if it made the news, then the likely reason is the latter.

Funny thing, I thought Freepers were in favor of letting private business owners make their own decisions, such as whether to allow smoking. Guess I was wrong.

Appearently, they are except where law abiding muslims are concerned. Law abiding muslims have no right to have restaurants voluntarily cater to their needs in return for business.

It's OK for restuarants in Jewish neighborhoods to maintain a Kosher kitchen to attract clientele but the minute a restaurant in a Muslim neighbourhood try to maintain a halal kitchen, the fearmonger of Sharia law starts up. I thought FReepers were above this but I think we have our own tin-foil hat crowd too.

And I don't believe McDonalds serves port in Muslim countries. If, due to a large Muslim population, they want to open halal McDonalds in the UK and France, so what.

Most, if not all the McD restuarants in Singapore are halal certified.

also, seeing the word “ban” usually elicits a knee jerk reaction.

Which is what the original poster of this thread wants to provoke: an anti-Islamic tyrade against ONE restaurant in ONE Muslim neighbourhood which wants to serve halal food options.

Wrong, “Tamar” most people here know that this goes WAY BEYOND the pizza place in the UK. So save the smokescreen.

These is nothing for a non-Muslim to like about Islam advancing in the West.

No one said that they do not have the right to do this “Tamar”. I was pointing out how Islam is advancing into the West through the free market. Most of us here have big problem with Islam.

Muslims are not the only people living in that area and as usually they show that they do not care about anyone but themsleves.

Who cares, what else should be done to please Muslims?
Take down crosses, make the Bible illegal? Please let us know.

How stupid. Do have any idea how bad the problem is in the UK? Or are you just talking about something that you know nothing about?

I really do not care, Jews are not looking to impose their religion on the world. Muslims are.

The tin-foil crowd stands up and protects Islamic advancing with their never ending excuses.

Ummm....Communism was once banned. But you will make any excuse to ignore the subject and not even attempt to fight back. That is obvious.

“Islam can be banned, it could be declassified from a religion to the political movement that it is and then banned.”

You are one scary individual. I cannot believe what I am seeing here. You want to start banning religions? Your kind belong in the old Soviet Union, in China, some oppressive totalitarian state, not here in the land of the free. You would give away what so many have died to protect. You are downright un-American. I'm just thankful that there aren't many nutbag extremists like you out there. If people like you ever become a powerful force this country is history. Our Constitution, everything we've fought so hard for, is gone.

It will be interesting to see if 0bama et al come out with an anti-capitalist strategery as their way of combating “radical Islam.” I think there’s an ACORN in the nut bowl.

Your “crying wolf” routine will cause people to ignore you when the real threat arrives.

Yes, I'm stupid, I know nothing about nothing. And shiver at the thought of "fighting back" against such an intellect as yours.

I haven't ignored the subject, you clearly want to ban particular religions, in this case Islam, tomorrow who knows. And ban certain political parties, today Muslims, after you declare them a political party rather than a religion, tomorrow, who knows.

And I'm telling you, directly, that's a un-American as it gets.

Don't like it, too bad.

BTW, the CPUSA has been around since 1919. Continuously. When was it ever illegal?

And we survived, amazing.

Perhaps because we confronted ideology, rather than ban it as you would.

Didn't know that. Am I correct in my impression that halal "certification" isn't much more than simply not serving forbidden food, without the many laws regarding preparation in Kashrut? If that's the case, it's pretty much a nobrainer.

Yes, but the old Soviet Union is gone. Were it only Christianity or Judaism islaminaction wanted banned, there would be a number of countries to relocate too.

I don't mean to suggest that islaminaction's religious intolerance is in any way similar to the jihadists, of course, being ignorant myself.

SmallGovRepub, this is how they win.

The Halal list of forbidden foods is much shorter than the Kosher list. IIRC, pork is the only type of meat absolutely forbidden in Muslim law. Camel, shellfish, etc are considered Halal, which is certainly not kosher. Halal has no concerns about mixing meat and dairy either. Muslims will go to a kosher restaurant (in areas where the neighborhood does not support halal restaurants) but very observant Jews would never go to a Muslim restaurant.

OTOH, they would consider veggies or other meats incidentally smeared in pork fat non-halal, so in that sense, an establishment like this would have to ban all pork products from even entering the establishment to ensure no cross contamination.

It’s not that it’s a Muslim restaruant, it revolves around preparation. Kosher utensils, no cross contamination between dairy and meat. That’s not an issue for Muslims is it? That’s the biggie, an observant Jew can only eat in a Kosher restaurant. They use Kosher MREs for Muslims, Kosher being more strict. Now they call them Kosher/Halal.

BTW, I've never known anyone to eat camel.

I do know that several Israeli firms have made advances in making camel ice cream and more importantly camel baby formula, which are rejected by the nations with lots of camels because the technology comes from you know where.
