This is a very rude thread. I thought FReepers were above this type of stuff. If you have a problem with Barack Obama, why not keep it to him and leave his wife out of it.

No can do. I do have a problem with Michelle and it started when she chose to inject herself into the fray with her comment about being proud of her country for the first time. Besides, I think it’s high time the left started taking some of their own medicine.

Oh...you mean the wife that is only just now proud of her country??? That wife??? That sweet little thang??

Not a chance. We've been sweet for 8 years while our President has been berated for everything, including his dogs! All we've gotten being so nice is the minority in congress.

These idiot people even booed Mrs. Bush yesterday. Enough niceness.

I know some of these comments seem petty; but, I think they are indicative of a new twist on BDS. ODS, or Obama Derangement Syndrome, is NOT a blind hatred of all things Obama. Instead, it is a blind love for all things Obama.

I have seen numerous print stories about how ‘dazzling’ her dress was, and the talking heads called her stunning and beautiful. Ok, I get it - its polite to compliment a women who is dressed up...but lets face it, she is not an exceptionally attractive woman. She has to stand in a strange bowlegged pose, when next to Obama, so as to appear shorter than him, she rarely smiles, walks and moves in a manner that looks like a teenage girl walking in heels for the first time. I’m not trying to be critical of her - it is just factually incorrect to compare her to Jackie-O, or in any way imply that she has exceptional beauty..

So, it gets a little tiring to listen to and read all the stories about her beauty and grace. I know it is a little unseemly to talk about he looks and style...but the media IS talking about it. If the print media keeps ‘making the call’ on her appearance, I reserve the right to disagree with their opinion.

...not because I have a personal hatred for Michelle Obama, but rather because this new ODS blind love for all things Obama scares the hell out of me.

Who paid for her inaugural outfits? If they were paid for with taxpayers’ money, then we have every right to criticize her. Besides that, she is now the First Lady and she should look like one. She represents us and we expect better!

Oh please. Just because she’s first lady we are supposed to silence our opinion on her clothes??? If you find this so rude and objectionable, report abuse is on every single post.

When she leaves herself out of it, we will leave her out of it.

This is a very rude thread.

On the contrary. The First Lady represents the U.S. and the President on the world stage. She needs to look like the wife of the President of the United States. Her appearance alone should command the respect and attention of every occupant in every room she enters. Nobody should look better than she. In a crowd of women, there should be no doubt as to the identity of the First Lady.

Michelle Obama has every fashion resource in the world at her fingertips. That she fails to make use of them leads me to believe that she is either oblivious or too arrogant to take the advice of others. Neither of which is a particularly welcome character trait in any person, let alone the First Lady.

I happen to like the image of the First Lady as a polished, competent woman. A wise and strong confidante to her husband. In no way does Mrs. Obama look the part.

If she's having lunch at school with the girls, attending a soccer match, or hanging out at Camp David for the weekend, then she can wear J Crew off the rack.

As for the dress in question. The cut of it is identical to those worn by Julie Andrews as Maria the governess in The Sound of Music.
