No can do. I do have a problem with Michelle and it started when she chose to inject herself into the fray with her comment about being proud of her country for the first time. Besides, I think it’s high time the left started taking some of their own medicine.

This is a very rude thread. I thought FReepers were above this type of stuff. If you have a problem with Barack Obama, why not keep it to him and leave his wife out of it.

Oh...you mean the wife that is only just now proud of her country??? That wife??? That sweet little thang??

Not a chance. We've been sweet for 8 years while our President has been berated for everything, including his dogs! All we've gotten being so nice is the minority in congress.

These idiot people even booed Mrs. Bush yesterday. Enough niceness.

Michelle is most often in a dress. She is also a fairly tall lady.

“This is a very rude thread. I thought FReepers were above this type of stuff. If you have a problem with Barack Obama, why not keep it to him and leave his wife out of it.”

I know some of these comments seem petty; but, I think they are indicative of a new twist on BDS. ODS, or Obama Derangement Syndrome, is NOT a blind hatred of all things Obama. Instead, it is a blind love for all things Obama.

I have seen numerous print stories about how ‘dazzling’ her dress was, and the talking heads called her stunning and beautiful. Ok, I get it - its polite to compliment a women who is dressed up...but lets face it, she is not an exceptionally attractive woman. She has to stand in a strange bowlegged pose, when next to Obama, so as to appear shorter than him, she rarely smiles, walks and moves in a manner that looks like a teenage girl walking in heels for the first time. I’m not trying to be critical of her - it is just factually incorrect to compare her to Jackie-O, or in any way imply that she has exceptional beauty..

So, it gets a little tiring to listen to and read all the stories about her beauty and grace. I know it is a little unseemly to talk about he looks and style...but the media IS talking about it. If the print media keeps ‘making the call’ on her appearance, I reserve the right to disagree with their opinion.

...not because I have a personal hatred for Michelle Obama, but rather because this new ODS blind love for all things Obama scares the hell out of me.

Amen, Caluvdubya. As far as I'm concerned, we are entitled to every rude, snide comment and action we can take in the next four years, and more.

If the holder of the position and his wife had any class whatsoever, I wouldn't feel this way even given his supporters' behavior. But they don't. In fact, he has done as much underhanded encouragement of the treatment of Bush as he can, and I have no sympathy or guilt whatsoever.

That may be the inspiration for the material, but Wilma Flintstone was the dress design inspiration, clearly.

Who paid for her inaugural outfits? If they were paid for with taxpayers’ money, then we have every right to criticize her. Besides that, she is now the First Lady and she should look like one. She represents us and we expect better!

Oh dear. That's bad. Really bad. I expected to see the dress and think, "Oh, they're just being a bit too critical..." But that... that is bad.

At least she didn't wear a hat.

Did you think it was OK for Dems to pick on Laura and Barbara? I didn't. Why would I think it's OK now?

I think you are on the wrong site.
Maybe I am. Do you know of a site where people can discuss conservative issues without attacking politician's wives?

M/M O are currently at the National Cathedral for the prayer service. All the women are in suits, mostly dark. Not Michelle, she is in a black/white/gray toned dress with a full skirt, almost looks like a Batik or an hombre print.

Looked more like a senior prom gown...the only one left on the rack.

Senior meaning someone over 75.

It was horrible. It looked like it was made from 2 ply quilted Charmin.

Her build is a challenge to dress properly. Being tall and having broad shoulders myself, I know this. But in the right hands, you could make quite an impression. Her outfits, even the “casual” ones, all the way back to the early days of the campaign have left me saying, “WTF?!”

I have been saying the same thing. I am built similarly and, as you know, it's challenging, but not impossible. She just dresses strangely and needs someone who is more familiar with dressing her shape instead of the flamenco dancer fashion consultant.

I must have seen a million posts here last night and today that recommend Scarlett O'bama needs to get on the "What Not to Wear" program.

I watch the program a lot. Let me tell you that virtually EVERY outfit in the final three dressed by Stacey and Clinton feature colorful shoes (flats or heels) that don't match (and often clash) with the color of the dresses or pant suits worn by the guests.

It must be a New York City fashion thing, but to me this "fashion statement" is sometimes just plain jarring.

Stacey and Clinton have to work mostly with bad bodies, but they often don't do that well in dressing them. Costumes selected are often dumpy, ill-fitting on the upper torso, and many overly-accentuate the bust line or show way too much unattractive and ghastly white cleavage. The fashion duo seem overly obessed with "puppies" (as Stacey calls them). It's always a major topic. However, with the inappropriate selections of attire, a buxom guest usually appears lumpen and not at all as "hot" as the hosts would like us to believe.

The hair guy should pack his scissors and go home. He gives the same haircut to everyone, i.e., the annoying "Veronica Lake", shoulder-length knock-off which requires constant pushing back of the hair so the gal isn't blinded as the hair falls limply over one-half of her face.

Carmindy does exceptionally good make-up. Here is the only spot where Mrs. Scarlett O'bama would benefit from being on the show.

Stacey and Clinton would do her no favors clothes-wise. If they were that good they'd be names in the haute couture world, not slugging away on cable HGTV.

I personally like the duo, they're entertaining and the program is fun.

But it wouldn't help Michelle. Not much can, I'm afraid....due to her stubborness and the affected, communist-type attitude of looking and dressing like one of the "common folk".

Oh please. Just because she’s first lady we are supposed to silence our opinion on her clothes??? If you find this so rude and objectionable, report abuse is on every single post.

When she leaves herself out of it, we will leave her out of it.

I agree. When I have seen her in a dress or skirt she does stand as if she is bow-legged. She really needs to work on her stance and posture. I actually thought that she looked nice in that dress. She usually looks really gauky in what she wears. The inaugural ball dress was probably chosen to downplay some of that gaukiness and lend some feminity to her image. It was a pretty dress that would be okay at a high school dance.
