The Greening of Energy: Not So Fast

Giving away money is hard to do. Just ask President-elect Barack Obama.

The government has innumerable ways to collect money from the populace and none to give it back, except through tax rebates. Now the president-elect is proposing a “green” way to put money in our pockets.

There are those around Obama who believe – as maybe he does himself – jobs can be provided and the world's energy balance can be shifted through public financing of green energy projects. Green to them probably means wind and solar, and possibly ethanol and biodiesel.

Of the whole panoply of green energy technologies, only one is really ready to go – wind power. It has the potential to make it without government incentives beyond the tax breaks it already enjoys.

Yet wind power faces the same hurdle as other large industrial installations – permitting. For years, the well-connected residents of Cape Cod have been opposing a wind farm in Nantucket Sound. People love forests of windmills, so long as someone else has to look at them.

Overall, the hatred of oil by the left will lead this nation toward collapse. They simply have no use for oil or common sense.

The problem with leftist social engineering projects is that none of them have succeeded. We have pored buckets of money down their black holes to fund pet projects that have resulted in nothing short of disaster.

Look what they did to education, what they will do to healthcare, what they have done to Social Security, with affirmative action, etc., etc., etc. This list goes on and on. How much lower would our national debt be; how much (possibly) lower would our taxes be had we not blown all this tax money to fund experimental projects that have racked up a shocking list of failure after failure?

Too many are not taking notice of the fact that Obama has increased the size of his cabinet to add a junk science enforcer in the form of his Global Warming Czar Susan Browner. Browner is a known socialist and her function is to try to cram junk science down our throats.

On top of all the economic problems we have today, we don’t need a lot of these junk science policies that will bve coming down the ‘pike at us, nor can we afford more leftist “tinkering” with our country. Obi wa nobama is already off to a bad start with the majority of his cabinet selections and it will only get worse from here!

Yes....which supplies MOST of our electricity. By the way, how do the “geniuses” in Congress figure that we have sufficient electricity to service a large number of electric cars?

As an aside, about the only thing Obama has mentioned that I agree with is that we DO need an updated grid for electricity, but even with this improvement, we still NEED the electricity.
